How wide can you go?

Alright heres the deal..... I am a mazda guy turned vw trying to get back in the mazda scene. I have fallen deeply in love with the slammed poke look, but i dont want to be soo low that the handling of the car suffers. anyway what is the widest you can go without worrying about rubbing etc. i am currently looking at rota grids thinking about going 9 inches (or more if possible) without having to stretch the tires. also while i have your attention what are some good performing coilovers that go relatively low. I know people usually get the car first then worry about things like this but im a little diffrent :)

thank you in advance

You won't fit 9 inch wheels on the Pro without a stretched setup. ??x8 +47 is you safest bet even then your only gonna be able to get a 215 on it if your really worried about rubbing. You could get a 225 on it with a fender roll and not have to worry to much but it'll depend on how low you go.

Anywho, check this thread out. It'll give an idea of what is possible.

But to go back on topic. i wouldnt mind stretching the fenders because im going to have the car painted and have a few things filled to make my msp stick out. so it will just be one of those little extra things... hell maybe ill just go fenderless hahahahaha

Don't know if these would be your thing or not but DG makes a "wide body", essentially over fenders. Could probably fit on ??x10 under those.

Now if you get some adjustable coil-overs it opens up alot to ya. AWR makes the best performing for us around $1900, and then there are BC's etc for around $1000. Im personally looking to go 245/35-17 once I get some new wheels and coil-overs

i hate "widebody" but i think that actually might have the potential to look good painted etc. especially if you get rid of the sideskirt piece so it would just be like fender flares. I just want to do something unique. and i mean unique no aluminum wings etc hahaha. I didnt realize how expensive coilovers are for these cars jesus lol. as far as rim height i dont think i would do 18's its kind of a small car and you can get lower on 17's lol

in order to poke you will NEED to stretch the tires so they stick under the fender while the wheel is outside the fender. I have 8 wide with +38 offset with stock 215/45/17 size and rub like a b**** with just rolled fenders

MSP-Dreams, PLEASE watch what you say. Don't be rude.

I cleaned up this thread. Don't do it again people.

Wow this whole thread is full of fail.....lol. Reading comprehension has apparently disappeared from the Mazda community.

Outlawstar98- Not sure if you actually read all through the thread but he did apologize. Not need to go moderator on him.

Zack- He likes the look of the "poke" but he is just looking for the widest possible setup that will fit. Proper fitment if you will.

i actually like the look of it, that car just isnt low enough to pull it off

Yeah I wish I could find out what wheel/tire combo that was. If its not something you actually have to fill out with a larger than stock combo I may look into it. And $450 isn't to bad of a price, there just isn't a lot of info on it.

i think 9in wide wheels are doable. Its just that ull need to murder out those fenders. Yea check the Agressive Fitment thread. Theres a lot of useful info there. I kinda wished we had more room under our fenders. I would love some 17x9 with 235 or 245 tires.
