How to swap RX-8 handbrake lever in Mazda2?

I saw an article on a Japanese website where someone replaced the 2007-2014 Mazda2 (DE) handbrake with the RX-8 handbrake. The article can be found here:

[マツダ デミオ]RX-8サイドブレーキレバー流用

The work time was said to be about 1 hour. However, the RX-8 has a different wire length, and there are no intermediate images, so I’m not sure how they managed to install it.

Is there anyone who knows how this was done? In my country, the Mazda2 (DE) handbrake is no longer in stock, and I’m having trouble finding one.

Sorry for the trouble. I was able to speak with the person directly.
It turns out that they only swapped the exterior part of the RX-8 handbrake.
  1. First, remove the grip from the RX-8 handbrake lever (Use a hairdryer or a thin metal plate to remove the adhesive behind the stitching). Do the same for the grip on the DE handbrake lever.

  2. The grip diameter on the DE is larger, so heat it with a hairdryer while pressing it in. Since the lower part of the RX-8 grip is too big, trim the unnecessary sections with a cutter, referring to the DE grip as a guide.
That’s all.
