How to remove the black plastic engine cover for a mazda 3 2008?

So i was wondering how to remove the black plastic engine cover on my mazda 3 2008 because i am planning on doing some diy garage work soon like oil changes etc and i just want to know how to safely remove it without breaking it because the interwebs and youtube dont seem to have the solution to how to remove it for my model as well as the user manual doesnt have the answer either (notcool)

Most engine covers simply pull off. They have locking tabs on the back that release and reattach with a little pressure. On mine, 2012, I just evenly pulled on the cover until it popped off. This is how everyone I have dealt with has been.

really, you don't HAVE to remove the engine cover to change the oil. that being said, it just pops off if you pull on it hard enough. (that sounded dirty...)
