how screwed am I?

Ok, I have a nail in my brand new tire (1000 mi or so)...b**** of it is, the location...
its still vertical (not sideways in the sidewall or anything). but its on the outer edge of the last block of tread on the inside edge of the tire. l. l <--tire

Thoughts, comments, condolences?

put your snow tires on and take it to a tire shop before anymore damage gets done.. That would suck if you had to buy a new tire so soon.

I'm very satisfied and actually impressed with the quietness and the handling is just as sticky, from what I can tell, as the Dunlops; though there is a tad bit more of turn in roll, but once that happens, you level and stick. Wet weather traction is 10x better than dunlops.

Damn lazy contractors, I went out to dinner at this new place that just opened in the last week or two, and I must have picked up the nail there; I'm sure there is a ton of debris and crap that I of course didn't know I was driving through when looking to park (mad)

you should ALWAYS get the road hazard. for what it costs, its always worth it IMO. discount will cover ANY TIRE sold with the hazard- even if the tire costs over $500.

Yeah Road Hazard is one of the only "insurance" add on products I will buy for any product. You would have to go through like 4 sets of tires without EVER damaging one before it becomes a bad deal. Discount Tire is also very accomodating and helpful in my experience with road hazard.

no, you need one 'certificate' per tire.

listen, technically, if it's out that far....yup, your screwed. At least, that's what a garage will tell you.

Now, having said that, it can still be fixed. Repair ship do not technically repair beyond that outer edge as they need to take a few things into account for the patch to work effectively. one of those things is side wall flex.

Now, look at those tires....how much flex do you really think those sidewalls do?

I had a piece of metal tear into my sidewall on the inside of the tire. This was on my mp3. I had a garage patch it, they said "technically I'm f'd", but they did it anyways. I drove a good 3000-5000 kms on it, no troubles at all.

In my situation I knew the tires, since not new, were probably going to wear out before the patch did.

it's a HUGE risk in just repairing it, and if you do a lot of highway driving, or aggressive driving....replace it... do not screw around.

Ok, I've go pics..my camera is having probs right now thugh..anywy, when checking my tire again... found 2! yes 2 nails, same type...Pissed. I'm gonna give that place that I was at last night a ring and see if they'll hook me up at all. (BTW, I live all of .6 miles from this place, and its the only place I've been since my tire's psi went from 34 down to 9...Bastards

Cross your fingers for me guys...went over, of course found nails and screws everywhere where I had driven/parked last night (in the middle ofthe parking lot), spoke to a manager, expecting to get, "not our problem, sorry". He was really cool, took my info, gave me his card, and said. "I'll be in touch this week and see if we can get this squared away for you." (wow) If they actually get me a new tire, I'll eat there at least once a month for ever

Thats Great! I would definitely give them my business if they are cool with you. By the way as far as road hazard goes, heres another little trick I have learned. If you buy a new tire and put RH on it and it's the same tire as your other 3 ( It has to be EXACTLY the same) the guys at discount will usually hook you up with a new tire if any of your tires get damaged in the future. If you seek out the same shop and the same guy that sold you the tire in the first place it helps. Send in a couple of your buddies to buy tires from him too that always helps.
