How much does the P5 engine weigh?

Reason I am asking is that the dealer is putting a new engine in the car and I'd like to have them keep all the parts they replaced with me. I'm sure I get to keep my broken engine right? They better give it to me and all the parts too.

So how much does it weigh, and if I put it in the hatch will the car take all that extra weight?

If the Block and head are seperate. it's quite light..

Two is an Easy move.

One person and you are working but it's possible

Put a hole in it and it's lighter..

That's totally not the tranny. That's the block that his car decided to shoot a rod through.

Wow thats not heavy at all. Two people can get it in the car sweet. Hoping to get teh car back this week, bastards have had it for almost 2 months.

Put some cardboard on the floor in the back.. Several layers of it.

You don't want it splitting the rear wood plate under the carpet..

my b. it looks like a tranny to me. didnt realize the block was that small

Hahaha, thsi cracks me up. I'm just not used to all aluminum motors. The 2.4L block in my toyota itself is about 200 lbs. Luckily it has an aluminum head, it's maybe 40-50 or so.

Re: the original post - truthfully it's not very normal for a shop to give you the old motor. Typically it is returned for a core. Since it's a dealership and a "new" motor, rules may be different. i know when i was looking to replace my 22re in the 4Runner, not turning in the old block would have cost me an extra 2-300.
I ended up just rebuilding it anyhow.

And they've had it 2 months? WTF are they doing? That take liek a week tops, esp if they're just dropping in a new unit, not machining an old one or anything.
