Hood Pins (yes, no, how?)

I know this has been discussed before, but I'm looking for a little bit more info than I was able to find by searching.

Personally, I hate the look of hood pins, but I think I'm going to put them on for safety reasons. Originally the hood was flapping like mad when I drove on the highway. Once I put the weather stripping on, it got a lot better, but still worries me.

I tried getting Dave Wood Mazda (local dealer that's VERY good to the Toronto Protege Club) to install the pins, but they were hesitant to do them because our hoods aren't designed too well for pins. The only place they could mount them would be where the curve in the hood is,...no good.

I know some have had the radiator shroud or other areas slightly bent in order to make room for a mounting area. Hoping to get some more ideas or feedback.

Please post in the same format and then add any other comments you want to.

1) Hood Brand: JSP
2) Hood Style: OEM
3) Do you have pins / locks? - No (but I am going to put them on)
4) What brand of Pins / Locks? - Hayame
5) Any problems with pins (ie: Rust)? - N/A
6) Where'd you have them installed? - N/A
7) How much did installation cost? - N/A
8) Did they do anything special to install (bend anything etc.)?

Thanks guys :D

4) What brand of Pins / Locks? - Actually I've seen some online that look nice, they just look like a circular key hole and they came in black so would look nice.

Id say no to hood pins........

I don't think you would if you saw the way my hood moves when I'm on the highway. I'm going to do the weatherstrip mod thing as soon as mazdastuff.com gets the weatherstripping to me. I'm still worried though.

i got no pins, no weather stripping, no problems.

i may caution, i wouldnt buy cheap pins. they will either rust or break (heaven forbid) in the long run. sparco would be best, not hayame.

my friend dakinep5 has sparco pins. his friend installed them for him at home i believe. u can pm him for details.

peace
