Hit Something Gooey Today

Okay, I was driving to a meeting today going about 60 mph on a four lane highway and I was enjoying the nice, cooler weather. All of the sudden I hit something which appeared to be like flattened cardboard boxes with a red pink color to it. I had no time to swerve and I only caught the objects out of the corner of my eye. I ran over the stuff with the right side of my vehicle. Not a loud noise at all. I was going to be late for the meeting so I did not stop and just assumed I hit some boxes.

After my meeting, I get to the dealer to check out my brakes which were squealing yesterday and they have me come check out my car. There is this pink gloppy, greasy stuff all on the underside of my car, on my rims and some light splattering up the side of the car. I was pissed and remembered it had to have come from what I hit. I went to a coin wash and sprayed the underside and used the brush. This stuff is hard to remove. I put my hand underneath the side sill and pulled out a handful of greasy glop, pink in color. It was a b**** to clean of my hand, which still feels a little greasy and smells like petroleum jelly (i.e. Vaseline). This is going to be hard to clean off. I am thinking of trying dawn or simple green in a power washer for the underside (def no power washer on the paint) and dawn and a sponge on the body.

Any ideas what this was or how to clean it???? Doesn't seem to harden at all.

Well I spent and hour and a half with dawn, simple green, and goo gone in my apt parking lot. I had no hose so I just used a bucket, some paper, towel and an old t-shirt. Goo gone was good for the splatter on the side side of the car. The Simple Green and a toilet brush were used to scrub the wheel wells. Basically, the stuff looks like it splattered in the wheel wells and along the side skirts and up on the side of the vehicle. The whole undercarriage appeared to look alright, but I'm not sure.

I will have to wait for the power washer and get my car up on my newly purchased Rhino Ramps this Saturday. I went through a whole bottle of simple green and almost a bottle of Goo Gone. I plan to remove the side skirts and hand clean them with Goo Gone. I think the stuff got between the cracks. What a PITA. While I am at it, I guess I will wash the whole car with Dawn, clay bar it again, and wax it. Going to have to get up really early sat morning to get all this stuff done.

what the hell is it? lol

i wouldn't touch it if i didn't know what it was. i'd pay someone else to clean that s*** up haha.

Still thinking it was some kind of petroleum-based product, sticky and greasy just like Vaseline (please, no jokes). It was gloppier than Vaseline, though. And yes, I did actually touch it. I probably should have bought some gloves first. Any more cleaning I do will be with gloves, though. If my hands fall off, I will sue somebody. I'm going to follow up with MDOT today regarding my report of the incident. They were unable to find the spot where it happened yesterday; someone might have cleaned up the worse of it by the time they got there.
