Hi Guys,

Being new to the forum, I would like to hear from as many as possible guys who have high milage Skyactive engine autobox transmissions.

In SA we only have a choice of 1 2L manual and 1 2L auto box. What milage could I expect to ge from the 3 series 2L autobox before I would need to think about a rebuild?

I would really like to know if the Mazda Skyactive has really delivered on the promise from this new high compression engine.

Thanks.

The highest I've seen (different forum) is on a 2012 Skyactive Mazda 3 with 136,000 miles.

It would take me another 26 years to reach that number.

While the new SkyActiv transmission is impressive, it's not a huge departure from traditional autos...so I would guess you could go about 150,000 miles before you would need a rebuild, unless you drive very carefully. It usually comes down to the transmission itself, too...some will seemingly go on forever, and some people are already having issues at 60,000 miles or so.

The engine is outstanding for what's outlined on paper. Some may whimper about it not putting out enough power (and there are ways to go about fixing that), but it's very efficient and I haven't heard of any major red flags in terms of reliability yet. Again, some engines may have issues (they can't all be perfect), but on the whole, the SkyActiv unit is a damn good engine.

Seriously? I thought I drove a lot...I mean, I have 10,000 miles on my 2015 3 after 6 months, but I don't think I could drive at the rate of 40,000+ miles a year.
