The recall surrounds an electronic problem that could prevent the windshield wipers from working. Affected vehicles include those between the 2008 and 2010 model years. Mazda is expected to notify customers and those with questions can contact their local dealer to see if their specific vehicle is listed under this recall.

Just an fyi. I havent had the issue but i'm sure some people here have.

Wrong forum, it appears. This is the Speed forum. Guess we'll have to wait and see if it spreads to us.

More than 400,000 Mazda3 and MAZDASPEED3 vehicles worldwide will be subject to recall by Mazda Motor Corp. after drivers reported defective windshield wiper motors.

In documents posted Monday on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Web site, Mazda said it's recalling 103,300 vehicles in the United States manufactured between Jan. 7, 2008, and Nov. 28, 2008.

The ground terminal of the wiper motor may have been accidentally bent as the cars were assembled, Mazda said in the documents. The flaw may cause the wipers to stop working, which could prove dangerous in inclement weather.

Wiper recall

Got my notice yesterday. Guess I get to waste half a day or so taking it in. :(

Same here, I've yet to make an appointment though. I did notice it says does not cover the rear wiper.

Just got my notice as well. Good timing though, need to have my 30k checkup as well. I know this is off topic, but other than the oil change listed in the manual, what else should be checked at 30k miles?

The O/M is your friend. You don't really let the dealer do your maintenance, do you?

basically they want to charge you $700-900 to change your oil, look at your other fluids, brakes, tires, struts, door hinges, etc... dealers are a rip off.

Well, I was going to do the oil change myself, and check the fluids. I wanted everything else inspected to be sure I am not missing something.

Got mine done by the dealer last week. Took about an hour and I was on my way.

boy that was one hell of a mess. i had taken my car in to have the wiper recall done and the dealer had lost power due to a storm. that was bad sign number 1, no problem i was at work all day anyway. a week after i get my car back i noticed my battery light came on (bad sign number 2) then my alternator died same day and stranded me. got back to the dealer and found out how insanely expensive a new alternator is and my car had 36750 miles in 40 months (bad sign number 3). called a mazda factory rep. they must have done something while doing that wiper recall because the factory rep covered everything but a copay. i probably should have taken my chances that the wipers would fail.
