Im under the impression that I basically cant have a header here in ca if I want to pass smog. Are there any headers for the p5 that will still allow me to pass smog?

AWR Shorty header...only replaces the exhaust manifold, and you keep your primary cat...Problem is that it won't give you much...Just bolt in the header...when inspections come around, back to stock, then header back on...

Or leave California...

U will have to pass smog in 2009. Then every other year after that. I also looked into it, smog isnt the problem if you know where to go and have 200 bux. Problem is Insurance. Dont hide mods from insurance, it is a waste of money. If you get in an accident and cant change the mod back in time, you will not be covered if it is responsible for the accident (they will make sure it is). Insurance is expensive and to be riding around with mods is paying for insurance that wont cover you=waste. Now I dont know how smart these companies are to be able to recognize an aftermarket header or not. A header is not worth the risk of going bankrupt if an insurance company voids your policy. Best thing to do is talk to your agent first, dont worry they wont raise your rate for asking questions, I asked them a few myself. And if you want to drive anything then he is right leave ca...but you will have to go alot farther than WA...try Mex. lol.

there is NOTHING that has CARB certification, so give it up if you want to be legal

hehe but if you dont have collision insurance like me...then who cares mod all you want

I have it too, it isnt a permit to do whatever you want to the car. If some one told u differ u need to go slap them. If it was, then Id turbo and pay a dude to pass it when smog comes around. I do not think they would void ins completely for a header,
