I got a tint job about 2 weeks ago and since it cured, the tint has a hazy look to it especially when sunlight or any light for that matter hits it at any angle. I have had tint before on other cars and never had that problem.
Take a look at the pictures, notice that the tint by the side rearview mirror where the sun is not hitting it looks normal compared to the rest of the window. And yes, that window is clean both in and out.

The film is SUNTEK Carbon 35%. Anyone else have this tint and have this issue? Tell me what you think. Does anyone with tint notice this???

i'm no expert, but i had an issue like that on a car a few years ago. its the film itself. diferent film will have diferent particles in it to make it darker or give it a diferent shine. you can notice cars on the road with just black tint on them and each car will have a bit of a diferent shine (glow) what ever you want to call it. the material in film is what gives it the color. that could be the issue. i don't think there is anything wrong with your tint, it's just the type of film they used.

do you think it be worth getting diferent tint? i'm not surre how much you payd for that one, but as long as it looks good from the outside i would be fine.

i'd call suntek. i believe it has a lifetime warranty.

how does the rear window look? is that hazy as well? the reason i ask is because rear windows are a PITA to redo w/o hurting the defroster lines. anyway, suntek makes good films. your film doesn't have metal in it AFAIK so i don't know what could be causing it.

i've never heard of any issues with the carbon series. most people go to it so they DON'T have problems, ha.

i run suntek hp50 and it's great.

Preparation and application usually has everything to do with it.

My tint looked like that when I got Johnson rayguard 35%. It looked worse though because the guy had his arm pressed up against the film so I had arm marks and it was on the film between the window and the tint so I couldn't clean it. Plus you could see tons of dirt and mess.

I'd suggest re-tinting but actually clean the area properly first.

I ended up getting a refund and going to another place where they did Johnson silhouette film. The guy told me that the best tinter in the world will do an amazing job and it'll come out amazing, no matter what the film. They can make crappy film look awesome. Just over time, the wear and tear ends up lasting or not.

The guy who installed it does a great job and works on all the high end dealer cars like Mercedes and BMW. I think the issue is with the film itself. He said he will talk to SUNTEK but I think the will pay for the film replacement but not the labor which is the most expensive cost. And I will probably have to cover cost of removing the old tint too. So I might be out more than the original cost.

The bottom line is that it drives me crazy now and I don't even want to drive it on a sunny day. I have to roll down all the window otherwise I get pissed off again.

Does anyone see the hazy I am talking about in my pics or is it just me?

only time my tint ever looked like that on the dozens of cars I had done were in the 1st week or so after having it installed. Adhesive was still drying out. Does your car sit out in the sun or in the garage? If it sits in the garage, take it outside and let it sit in the sun and see if it starts to clear up.

just talked with a friend of mine, he did tint for a while. he had noting bad to say about the film used on your car. but he says that the installer did not have much to do with the way your tint looks. The windows are usally cleaned and prepd. so the film sticks. He says that the film could be an older bach. accoring to him film goes thru oxidation after a while and it will loose color. This could be a possiblity according to him.

sorry, but WOW is that bad! mine is nothing like that except when I'm in a valley of fog.

Did you smoke in your car? I do and over time the windows develope a film on them. It is only really noticable when like you said any kind of light comes through them. If they put the tint on the windows without cleaning that film, I`m sure it's permanatly on there, unless you remove the tint and clean the windows and reapplythe tint. That's my 2 cents.

P.S. Dust and smale dirt particles can do the same thing to windows!

I don't smoke. I think it is may be a bad batch of film. Maybe it has something to do with this new "Carbon" type film.

Does anyone else have SUNTEK "Carbon" on their car?

Any pics from the inside with the sun shining through would be greatly appriciated. I want to have some ammo when I go to the Tint place.

Thanks

I've had many tint jobs done, all the way back to '87. Never had an issue with any of them. If the dealer chose the tint, then he and the tint manufacturer should bear the cost of the remedy. This is either a bad batch of tint or something went wrong with the application.

i think the ammo you need is already on your car. if you don't think it's supposed to look like that, then it most likely isn't.

maybe browse some tint specific forums like the tint dude and some others and see what they say, but, honestly, i'd just 1. call the manufacturer and discuss your issue, and then 2. bring it back to the shop.
