Gun metal stock wheels

What primer/paint/clear coat brand are you guys using that having painted your wheels gunmetal? ive been thinking about doing it myself as well.

For painted and clear coated wheels like ours I use the same process as paint a body panel. IMO primer in a can doesn't do to much. I just scuff them, clean them with wax and grease remover and paint them. For rattle can I would use duplicolor or rustoleum. Use the same brand clear. When I get around to doing mine I'll try to do a good how-to and post it up.

search around a bit, there's lots of info out there on other forums (for other vehicles as well). I primered mine and wonder if it was really needed..

You probably didnt need the primer. The paint the factory uses is baked on, just like the paint on any other metal part of the car. This makes factory paint a better foundation that we can make as painters. Also, "primer" is a very general term used to describe lots of products, and not a lot of people can pick the correct one for every situation. I may try to get in to this stuff a little more when I do my how-to but it's really never ending.

Jiri4 painted his own.

Thanks man! That was Duplicolor Wheel Coating spray in the color Graphite. I've also painted them Grabber Green Duplicolor Engine Enamel with Ceramic for one winter. Granted, the wheels saw more abuse in the winter, but the Wheel Coating Spray is holding up much better.

Glad my little ole' car that doesn't have a whole lot of mods done to it is still thought of now and then.... Made my day, thanks!
