2003 Mazda Protege5
So as most of you don't know (b/c I haven't been more than a troll lately) that I sold my sled on Monday (this past Monday). It was 2003.5 P5 w/66k miles. It was in excellent condition. I sold below book value b/c in helping a friend out I was helping me out. (A little history) Let's go back in time to 2004 when I was in my prime Acura Integra GSR fan boy days. I owned a beautiful 99 GSR and suddenly one night (June 5th 430AM 2004) it was taken from me. In less than 24 it was found completely stripped of well just about everything. I mean they left the doors and hatch and thats about it. (Fast forward to about 2 wks ago) I finally decide its time to relive those days and move on from the ever so sporty/practical P5 back into a GSR. This past Monday I close the deal on the sell making a pretty good chuck of change while saving a friend some money on a great car. Wednesday I get the inevitable call..."Dude I just wrecked the car." No way, he did not just say what I thought he said. "Yes, I just rear ended another car while messing w/the radio." So onto the pics.....

The only thing I retrieved from the car are the floor mats, the indash TV, amp and subwoofer. Im pretty sure the indash is up for sale and I know the floor mats are.

I sold it for $8500
The ins co paid him $9400 - $500
I still haven't signed the title over b/c Im waiting on the bank to mail it to me. Good thing I got a copy of the bill of sale.

I'm sorry man...at least it's not your mess to clean up! 9400 is a nice settlement from the ins. co...he should be happy. Enjoy your GSR.

I just recently wrecked a GSR (June 21 08) and switched to a Protege5 myself. I feel your pain, nothing like looking at the car you've spent god-knows-how-many hours wrenching on smashed up....

Good luck finding a GSR.....Integras are hard as hell to find unmolested(without Altezzas, a four foot wing, and underglow)

I say we boycott June since it keeps killing Integras.....

Feelin ya flow on that one!! I have found about 3 or 4 stock ones along the east coast and Im willing to travel from FL to NY to get one.

He did ok to get that much from the ins co but he already has 2 speeding tickets w/in the last 2 yrs and now this on his ins so Im sure he didn't come out on top of anything. They are gonna be all over him on this.

dang that sucks
looks like he was messing with the radio for a while

kinda sucks how he made money from this, i need a drivers side headlight too
oh well

The only parts I got off the car were the floor mats and the radio/amp/sub. I told the guy NOT to release the car to the ins co until they give him a tracking no. on the mailed check. He already released it. I told him 250,000 times not to do that and that they would threaten him w/lot fees. He released it on the 1st phone call from the ins co after the adjuster looked at it. Had he not released it I could go back and get more parts off of it. They will be moving it Monday to a different lot and it will belong to the ins co.

When my GSR was stolen/stripped I went thru the exact same deal w/the ins co where they threatened me w/lot fees. I asked the junk yard and they said they would bill the ins co for them, not me. So I told the ins co I'll release it when they can give me the tracking no. on the check. Until then, they would accrue the lot fees as well as rental car fees. I got my check the following week and never saw a bill for any lot fees. He might get his in 3 wks. I am still waiting to get the title from paying off the loan at my bank (which will be next Thurs/Fri) We'll have to get together to sign it over to him. He'll need to then overnight it the ins co who will take a day or two to process it, then another day or two to process a check and mail it out.

It sorta sucks that he made money from it but his ins will be sky high now.

that blows.

I could have used some parts I mean it would have been nice if you could get some more money from it.

It belongs to the ins co now. The only ppl making money off of it is the the salvage yard that parts it out. I'll see if I can find where it ends up.

ha, that dude is not making money on a total loss on a 9400 dollar payout.....his rates are going to "rip his O-ring" so to speak. lump sum vs. annuity or somesuch.

there's always the option to buy back the salvage titled vehicle for 300 bucks or so and part-out, but i don't think anyone's in the mood for it?
