01` Mazda Protege
Hey, I'm new to all of this car audio so I was lookin for some help. I'm lookin for a good amp, I'm assuming I need a multi-channel considering I'm gonna be putting about 6 new amps, a new head, and some subs in pretty soon. If anyone is aware of any good companies, help me out. Also, most importantly, I need to know the speaker size for my 2001 Mazda Protege (4DR Sedan). It's got 2 speakers on the front door, 2 in the back door, and 2 in the rear deck. PLEASE help me out with the speaker sizes, I'm extremely lost and I'm trying to look for some speakers, but I don't exactly know what sizes to get. Reply ASAP please. Thanks a lot, peace.

did u try crutchfield.com they have a speaker size thing-a-ma-bob that you can put your make and model in, and they will recommend speakers. thats what i use if im unsure. you can try that.

If you don't know anything about it just take it in and get a custom job done. You will want to get a separate amp for your mids and highs than you run for you subs (unless you get a precision or something expensive to power both).

Your Protege has 5X7's in the front and back. Why do you need six amps? Your pretty much only need two. A nice four channel for the front and rear speakers, and an two channel, or mono amp for subwoofers. If your going to do this, make sure you purchase a headunit with three pre outs, a front, rear, and sub pre out (Alpine, Panasonic, Pioneer, Clarion) some decent brands. Infinity, Polk Audio (good speakers we sell) MTX good sub amps and subs, Boston Acoustics, just some good brands.

how good of an amp are you looking for? a really good amp will run you between $1100 and $2500. Are you going for sound quality? SPL? or you just want something that sounds decent and is pretty loud for daily driving? It's important to figure out what you want to do before you make any decisions.

I think I already caught up with you in the main audio section but incase I didn't and for everyone elses knowledge:

The 2001 Protege has 5x7" speakers in the front doors and 6x9" speakers on the rear deck. There are no rear door speakers. (HE HAS A REGULAR SEDAN NOT AN MSP)

If you intend to amp all of your factory speakers or their replacements, then you need at most a 4 channel amplifier. You could use a 6 channel and bridge 4 channels to two and get alot more to the front speakers if you like.
