I have a 4x50w panasonic cq-c5301 deck. Right now I've got a crappy 10" sub connected to a crappy 4x100w amp. I have stock fronts and really crappy aftermarket 6x9s at the back. I have a little money to kill so I'm gonna replace the door and rear speakers tomorrow.

What do you guys think of panasonic 6x8's and 6x9's?

They seem reasonably priced and are direct fit. Do you think they are worth upgading over stocks? Will my deck be able to power these by itself?

skip the rear speakers, get components in the front and an amp. it's really easy to make a baffle or buy one to convert your fronts to 6.5's or whatever kind of component you find. if you are interested I can show you the threads for all that crap. i need to go to bed.

That's a good price, i'm not sure about the quality of Panasonic speakers though. I haven't been impressed with their stuff in the past. I do installations for people quite a bit, and so far my favorite low cost speakers are Pioneers, that's what I run in my car off my Xplod 52x4 and they sound good and clear, and don't distort until it gets so loud that you can't tell if the speakers are distorting or your ear drums have ruptured. Just don't expect any bass out of a head unit or speakers in the doors, I have the bass turned all the way down and let the sub do the hard work.

I treat speakers like an investment. They have the potential to last longer than the car you own. Therefore I never look for the cheapest speakers or the best deal. Neotuner is right, skip the rears and spend your money on a decent set of front speakers. You will be much happier in the end and when you sell the car, you will most likely pull them out for your next car.
