Today I ran my 3rd Autocross in the M2 and I had lots of fun. I wear glasses and I have this expensive pair that I wear every day but do not fit nicely with my helmet. I have an older pair of titanium flexible frames that are narrower at the temples and do fit nicely in my helmet. Swapping glasses between runs, I placed the daily/expensive glasses in their case in the glove compartment (so I thought!). Later, I could not find them. I started to get worried for two reasons: cost to replace them, and what if they fell out of the glove compartment and could somehow travel to the driver side and jam my throttle? If they would jam the brake at least I could put down a fast run and win my class (again).
Anyway, I got home and started to look at the glove box and squeezed the sides gently, which allowed the glove-box to rotate down and separate. The glasses in their case were in the center part of the console behind the shifter.
Happy!
If you ever loose anything from the glove-box during autocross or track days, remove it and check behind. If you want things to stay put, place a nice sized towel or rag above your items: glasses case, tire pressure gauge, temperature gauge, etc.
Hope this helps you. BTW reinstalling the glove box requires you to align the lower clips, rotating to the point where the side pins match the center of the slots, squeezing the sides in a bit and rotating up the rest of the way.
