Getting an engagement ring (opinions wanted)

Well, I'm in the trying to find the perfect engagement ring for my girlfriend in the next few months. The only thing I know is that she likes princess cut and doesn't like gold (traditional not white). I have been searching around and came up with the one in the picture. Do you guys think it looks good or bad? I don't want to give her an ugly ring that she has to wear forever (I'm definately not a style guru). Gals opinions obviously better than guys, but all are welcome. Thanks!

BTW, I know there are going to be comments that I should spend the money on my car, but that is not an option

Nah just joking, but that is really good looking ring! My girl has me trained pretty good at picking out good ones cause we've been looking at them for 2 years now and I still haven't bought her one!

Diamonds are over-priced over-hyped and barely even a precious stone anymore. Id get a stone thats original instead of the same old diamonds that arent even worth half of what they sell for. But thats just me

Very nice. Did she say she wanted diamonds around it. Your in about the same price range that i was in. I think if you get a solitare it sticks out a little more. But its all up to the girl.

That's pretty nice... my girl is also about the princess cut and I've done some shopping... Look into having it kite set or baseball diamond set (where they rotate the diamond by 45 degrees so it looks like a "diamond" relative to the ring... that is much more a-typical and looks great as well... I've found one ring..

also if you want something unique try to find out from the diamond rating card if the diamond will flouresce or not... if you put it under black light or intense sunlight the diamond will glow turqoise blue....

Also... as far as my opinion on diamonds... I look for a slightly lower color quality.. (like E,F, or G) which is NOT visibly yellow, just not as white as the C and D's... then go with a VS1 or better inclusion.. you can even go with an S1 but check it visually yourself and ask for the defect to be shown to you so you can see if it really is "noticeable" or not... that's the best way to genuinely get a nice diamond.. buying a flawless colorless is somewhat useless as it's only a "bragging" rights thing as you can't tell the difference by eye.... but try not to skimp on the quality of the cut as that affects how refractive the diamond is. But do those things above and you can get a serious chunk of diamond for a reasonable price to say the least.
