Mazda 3s hatchback
Hey guys. Proud new owner of a Mazda 3 hatchback here. I have the stock
headlights, and I reeeeally like HIDs. I saw some generic ones at Tweeter and I was wondering..
1. Will they work in my 3?
2. Are they any good? I don't need super amazing awesome HIDs, just as good as my normal yellow-y lights, but ultrawhite.
They're only $90, does that mean they suck? Would it be a big deal to put them in? Could I do it myself or would I need to take off the whole front part the car?

Here are some, please lemme know what you guys think.

those only simulate the color of hid's. they're just regular bulbs. from what people say around here, piaa's tend to burn out fast.

for 90, i guarantee they aren't real HIDs (xenons)

why didnt you just get them stock? its an option...

go to a local auto parts store and get some "hyper whites" but they are right, its just a tinted bulb. and trust me on this, you will loose some distance with them. and those ones you just linked too, 6000k, will REALLY hurt your distance, i just got tired of trying all kinds of bulbs, that i just went out and got a HID conversion kit. only costed about 350$ and was well worth it.

question .. how many watts bulbs should we use, what is the max, cause i heard that a high watt bulbs can mess up our projectors ??

id only go to 55watts. i heard that if you go higher you have a risk of melting wires or some s***. BTW i got my full HID conversion kit. 4700K. its baaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddd asssssssssssssssssssss

>pool college student with a brand new Mazda 3 is kinda an oxymoron don't you think?

Actually Fobby, it isn't an oxymoron at all.

I, a college student, just bought a brand new Mazda 3. You think I have any money left over?
Thanks for playing.

in my experience that would make you a rich college student who just spent all of his money

And thus, now I am poor and happy with my new ride. I was referring to my current financial situation, not what it was before and after I bought my car.

i totally understand your situation, having a new ride to enjoy is much cooler than buying a used car and spending all the savings on partying and drinks.

anyways, if you want to have the look of HID you really can't, i mean even if you have those pretend HID bulbs your headlights look like the colour of the hid but you can tell they aren't because of the brightness.... sometimes haveing them too blueish / purplish makes your headlights look cheap i think, so i got the silverstars, they produce more light and don't look blue, just white. you can search for silverstar and i'm sure you'll find a lot more info on them and other suggestions of bulbs that you could switch to.

btw what bulbs does the mazda 3 use?

Although I don't have a mazda3..(I was so close to getting it..damnations to the canadian credit bureau..) I use the Silverstar HID-wannabe headlights on mine. They are not as HID-ish as they advertise, but it's definately much whiter than stock bulbs. Plus i didn't really notice much difference in distance coverage..they were pretty much the same..little brighter. With Mazda3's headlight system i think it would do pretty well for just the look. They shouldn't be that expensive at all too. 40~50 bucks for a pair?

i used to just run stock bulbs but then one of them fried so i got a sylvania cool blue one to replace it, and it was much whiter than stock and also brighter too, after a while i decided to replace my stock bulb with a sylvania silver star and so i could compare the cool blue to that and really there wasn't much difference between the two, the colour was pretty much the same white and also the light output and brightness was still the same. so i dunno how they make their claim about silverstars being the best in their product of bulbs but the do cost the most. i reccomment cool blues if you want just a more white look. o also if you get these type of bulbs you will not see the blue reflection inside the light housing that you normall see in the daytime with the blue colour coated bulbs.

hey, where'd u get a HID kit that was only 350$?? e-mail me MINHN@austin.rr.com

thanks

yeah if your going to spend 100$ might as well save a bit and get the real kit, check on this very website, couple people mentioned the company selling them for like 350$ i mean if your a poor college kid why spend 100$ just for a light that has a slighty diffrent hue to it but doesnt give you any benifit whatsoever.
