The pictures in my thread do not have smoked tail lights FYI. All I have is the smoked reflectors. I don't see the point in making the black tails... black(er).

oh really? cause they look darker in your pictures.
well then i would have to see how much darker they get, it will probably still look good, especially cause im going with the titanium gray/black color schema.
as long as the light still reflects i shouldnt have problems with da police

Yeah, they definitly looked darker. I couldn't find a pic on rockblocker that had the smoked back covers. Anyone have one they could link to?

When you put the rockblocker film on your tails, you CANNOT see the lights at all until the are lit up. No offense to rockblocker, but it looks kinda tacky. The ONLY reason i would do this is if I had the i model (red) tails.

so the reflector doesnt work? i think its illegal to not have relectors on your tail lights.
i still want the smoked reflectors though.

Or to take one step further... Are there tinting options? I, for one, do not want a severe blackout. Just a good tint.

Here is a pic of the smoked tail light kit in 20% on my personal car. And yes you can see the tail light without it being lit up.

Here is 35% on a Acura

I really like the lookk of the 35% but i fear its illegal. Does the light reflect ok?
I will also check with some friends in the law enforcement department.
Hopefully it will be ok cause i think it looks prety damn good. I wonder how it compares to the tail lights that come standar in the Golf IV GTI, they seem almost as dark.

The 20% is more close to what you see on the GTi. I used to own a Jetta VR6 and had the smoked tails.
