Gas mileage spreadsheet

If anyone wants it, I have created an Excel spreadsheet to calculate monthly and yearly fuel consumptions. It's in both english and french, miles per US galon, L/100km, miles per Imperial galons. Sir Nuke tested it and it works fine.

I can't find a way to post it here, so pm me.

You're absolutely right. Problem is, it won't accept an .xls format file

Read fine print, only gif, jpg, png, txt, zip...ZIP! I'll try this...hehe. See attached file.

Pleasure is all mine Pal. I just wanted to share it, many on this forum have helped me, it was my turn.

BTW, my car does 33mpg (Imperial galons that is) these days. My previous car, a 2000 Civic EX (4 doors) was doing 43...

considering you are talking about city driving and with the auto....you are doing pretty good...at least decent. for you to truely get anywhere near the ADVERTISED highway milage...you need to get out in the highway and keep it at a steady speed for the better duration of the tank.....and the pretty darn good too. On vacation, with four people in the car and our STUFF, and running a constant 85 MPH....I got between 28 and 30 MPG (thats US gallons), depending on the time of day...the hotter it was the mileage went down to 28.....considering it was totally loaded....and at that speed....I thought it was great!

Weather in Chambly is hot and humid, 32C (((32*1.8)+32)=89.6F) plus humidex...so very sticky.

10.8L/100km is not so bad in city driving, especially with an auto tranny.

I'm getting about 28-30 city when I dont use the A/C. With a CAI and a leaner mix (dont ask how i did that ) I'm getting over 31 on the hwy, even pushing hard.
I dont know what I get taking it easy on the hwy, because I never do!!!!
26 city is good for an AT. And our 4-cyls will actually improve in fuel economy up to at least 10K, if not farther.

We average 30.8 on a 6,500 miles trip across the Rockies and back - Biloxi to Seattle. Driving 75 to 80 with the A/C on all the way. I was pretty happy with that - It's better than my Miata gets on the road.

I keep a small notepad in the car at all times, and I've had a rubber stamp made so I can note (in an orderly way) all data necessary to fill spreadsheet at the end of the month.

With time, you can even find out which oil company makes the best gasoline for your car (at least the one that gives best mileage, depending on the season and the way you drive).

You can say I'm a bit of a nut, but when the spreadsheet is filled religiously and analysed, you can even tell when the car needs a tune-up.(redp5)

For myself, I almost always go to Chevron, and Superstore sometimes.

Remember I live up north (where snow melts in April), we don't have the same brands as in the States (Ooops! just noticed you're in BC...why don't we have the same brands???). I've only had the car for 5 months now so I can't tell for sure which is best, but I sure know that Ultramar (formerly know as Golden Eagle) burns like water (piss). I'm suprised by Petro Canada's performance, but I'll swith to Shell soon (I hope they have fixed their additive problems (scratch)), it was the best in my '90 Civic Si (used it for 10 years).

It's like I said, takes time, but you'll see, it works.

I know Chevron is good - The "Techron" additive they put in it really DOES clean fuel injectors.

Their gas is a bit pricey down here (compared to all the others) but I DO use a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner in all my cars once every oil change. I skipped it on the wife's previous car until I noticed the mileage was down by 2 or 3 mpg, and a couple bottles of the Techron stuff brought it right back to where it usually ran - I'm a believer (flash)

Keeping close track of your mileage can be pretty beneficial - I usually only do it on trips, as there are just too many other variables around town for it to mean too much.

chevron has good gas because they are the only oil company that has thier own dedicated fuel lins across the states. all the other oil companys have to "buy" transfer time in the pipelines. (saw that one on the history channel.)
