Fuel Cap Warning

Got the Loose Fuel Cap warning light the other day. I had been to a full service gas station and when I checked the cap it was, in fact, loose. I tightened it but the light remains on. The manual states that the car must go through a few start/stop cycles before the light goes off but I've had it now for several days. Any ideas?

Give it a time, it should go away. If it last a week, then I would say you need a code reader to erase the code

Over one week. Many stop/start cycles. 2 fuel refills. Light is still on.

Update: The light is off

After 9 days, at least that many 4-hour stop/start cycles, over 500 miles and 2 fuel refills the loose fuel cap light finally went off. Can't say which of the above contributed to it. I'm wondering what the system is actually monitoring because the loose cap was tightened immediately and conditions in the fuel tank itself had to have varied tremendously over this period. In any case, I'm happy it's resolved with no need for any resets.
