Front door chrome molding strip on my 2021 CX-9 driver's door

The chrome lower door molding on my CX-9 broke off and appears to have used snaps that were connected to the strip. I ordered a new one but it has plastic mounts that look like they would be for screws. The parts guy said you pull off the black molding and screwed the chrome strip to it.

Anyone know anything about this and does the black plastic molding just snap on the door?

Posted in the other thread you commented on. I have the shop manuals and have removed just about every exterior piece on the vehicle to black it out. Those plastic panels snap in and out. Just pull hard. Chrome is held on with screws

Thanks thats what I figured but with my luck I thought I should ask.
