Forge BPV Not Pinging??

I just installed my Forge BPV and for the life of me it will not make that clanging metalic sound, which is one of the reason i bought it. Ive tried the yellow srping with and without shims the blue spring with shims and without and all it does is sound identical to how the factory BPV sounded. What should i do?

I had the same experience. With my AEM + PG TIP, it just goes, PWAAAAAAH! like my cat hacking a hairball.

Whatever, it works and is a quality piece of machining so, I ain't concerned. Function is what matters to me.

AGREED, I was just concered if it was functioning correctly or not.

I have had my forge for almost a year, and is has never pinged. I have listened to forge bpv videos on youtube, and have yet to hear the ping sound everyone talks about. I personally love the way my forge sounds with my sri. It's way louder than the stock bpv.

I would consider it a good thing that my BPV doesn't clang or make weird ass noises. I read somewhere that the newer Forge BPVs will do away with the clanging sound and will sound almost like stock, just louder. Kinda like what my Turbosmart BPV sounds like, more or less stock, only more pronounced.

I was experiencing the same thing (posted in video section). However, when I switched back to the yellow spring, it not only started pinging but the car ran smoother. Like you, I was worried that I had jacked it up -- but for me, changing to the yellow spring helped.

Is it the old design or new design.
The new design has no ping.

I'm on my 2nd used Forge BPV (changed just to get the black one), and the pinging has been very, very subtle. Nothing like some of the YouTube videos I have heard.

Same here, the sound is subtle but distinct with just the cobb sri. Totally different sound with the turbo inlet though, makes it even more quiet but more air sucking sound. Its loud as hell on the MS6 though.

mine "pings" loud as a mofo....i actually like it.

Im not even getting a subtle ping, it actually sounds identical to the factory bpv, its not really any louder either. I know its probably stupid but i was really looking forward to that sound.

my forge used to ping away like a church bell, until i installed the PG turbo inlet. after that, it became waaaaay more subdued. still a lot of whooshing and hamster sneezes, but no more ball-peen hammers....

mine has a ping like you wouldnt believe. i can hear the ping over my stereo with my windows up. lol. i love it. its so different.

maybe let it break-in for a couple weeks. from a technical standpoint that might not make sense, but give it a shot.

It makes sense. The design just by looking at the outside shows why. New one is like the HKS SSQV

Hmmmm I would interested to hear what it sounds like. Anyone have the 2nd gen valve?
