01 Mazda Mp3 *turbo*
this post was made after reading the sticky.. i am going to use a MSP ecu in my vehicle for fuel managment reasons my question is.. it came out of a 03.5 MSP but i dont know if it was flashed or not. and i dont know how i would go about getting it flashed since it will be in a 01 MP3 and if i take my car to them there gonna be like this isnt a MSP and im gonna be like yea it is just badged as a MP3 for the sleeper effect or something.. but if i have the problems that everyone speaks of from this ECU should i just go to my local mazda dealer and ask if they can reflash it or?

ive heard that they will not flash a non msp...even if you lie about the badge.

This is true from the three dealers I have been to! It cant happen unless you know somebody pretty well in service.

i have a quetsions regarding the flashing...sorry to threadjack..

but this hesitation that the flash supposely fixes...at what RPM does it happen??

hi kwjhduibd,

I just bought the tool to download flash images from the eec-v ecu's (www.moates.net "burn1"). I also bought a board (www.moates.net "F3") which contains alternate flash memory you can program with any binary and specify that your eec-v use that board's flash memory for operation (instead of the stock flash on the eec-v). I am also planning on running the mazdaspeed binary on my eec-v, as i am installing the mazdaspeed turbo setup in my 2.0L fs 626. I need someone with a mazdaspeed eec-v to extract the stock binary from. I would also need someone who has already had the flash upgrade to get that binary as well. Once I have those two images, I can program the www.moates.net F3 part with either of the two flash images. If you buy the F3 for your EEC-V (only $60), and we can find someone with the flash mod already to copy the latest binary from, I'll program it for you for free. The only thing we have to double check is that the mazdaspeed eec-v has the J3 connector port. If it does, everything is golden. Otherwise, I'll have to come up with an alternative plan which would involve reverse engineering the odbii programming method, and i really don't want to do that, as it will be very complicated. Also, I'll be willing to program other people's ecu's once we verify this works.

Also, the same goes with any of the other eec flash programs, ie. the mp3 flash. Once I have the binary extracted from a willing donor (with the mp3 eec), i can program that flash binary to f3's for other protege eec's.
