First CEL on Mazdaspeed3

Cel

Hey all,
I just took in my MS3 to get its first oil change and to fix the CEL. My code was the same as I have been reading: P2006. The dealer said that there has been a problem with the intake manifold runner screws (or something to that extent). The problem is that they were not properly set up for cold temperatures which is why everyone seems to have a CEL right now. My light has not come back on since (about 300 miles later). I agree with the power boost. It seems like my car had lost some of its low end push which seems restored now. The dealer said that they cut and lengthened some component and if CEL again then they would replace the part.

Damn, you guys are gonna start to worry me, 10500 miles and no cel yet. Lets hope it stays that way.

Okidoki, just got off the phone with the dealer. They said they will need to elongate the holes for the intake runner a little bit more. They also said that they will need to keep the car until tomorrow. I guess that is not going to fix the problem and they will have to replace something. I just hope that they fix it right this time! I will let you know tomorrow about what they do. I think i may need to see the some hard evidence on paper as to the fix. So I can post it. Talk to yous later. Peace OUT

Well finally got the ride back. There is a switch on the intake manifold that tells the ecu if the runner is open or closed. Due to cold weather the switch may not be triggered by the runner. So elongating the mounting holes on the switch about 2mm will bring the switch closer to the runner piece that contacts the switch. POOF!! No more CEL.

This 'fix' did not work for me. I needed to have the switch/valve/whatever replaced.

The service manager said that that they had to make the mounting holes larger per tech line. I told him that as soon as a replacement part becomes avaliable I want it installed on my car. CEL on or off, I want it replaced. He said ok. So we will see what happens.

I thought the same thing at first. But wait a little bit. I think it will come back on. I know....way to think positive!! LOL

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack haha.

18F this am. Car felt a touch sluggish last night on the way home at low throttle. I kept looking for the light..and sho nuff, this am... BING!

Dealer is taking car back after lunch. If anything, the dealer works me in as soon as I call. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

maybe. Turns out they redrilled it and moved it the first time I went in. The service writer said the tech was on the phone with a mazda guy. They determined the sensor was to be replaced...only it's out of stock. I am waiting for a phone call when it arrives. happy thoughts happy thoughts happy thoughts.

j/k I am cool with that.

2300 mi. and it's back for me too. It was about 19 degrees yesterday afternoon when it came on. Prolly the coldest day we've had since I had the elongation done. I haven't made an appt. yet to take it in because I have too much going on this week. As soon as I know something I'll post.

sounds like we are traveling in similar circles. I have close to the same mileage and it was also 19F here yesterday.

I guess the comforting thing is that it's not a fluke with just one car or the other. We've got matching boo boos.

Yeah, it feels good to know I'm not alone:)

Yep - that's what the dealer told me today. He said the intake manifold runner control switch was not working properly so they drilled "extra holes" and moved the switch about 1 mm forward. I pick up the MS3 tomorrow, and I'll report back on how the car performs and whether the CEL comes back. It's consistently in the low 20's and high teens here the past week or so.

My cx-7 has the same issue and is at the dealer as we speak. Had the IMRC valve adjusted already. Lasted 2 weeks. They are overnighting a new part and installing tomorrow. So anyone with the turbo engine is having the same issues.

i had my intake manifold holes elongated about a month ago, untill this weekend there had been no more light. it's back on now, i hope its the gas cap this time. if its a new problem i'll post the info. i know we all know what the light looks like but here it is, it makes me sooooooo mad.

Elongating the manifold holes is the automatic first step. I've never heard of it working, but they do it anyway...maybe like my dealer - to stall until they could get the redesigned manifold valve thingy...

all disi turbo engines has this anoying problem thank God mine still with out the cel!!
