Fidanza Flywheel?? Worth it??

I clicked on the R-R Racing link at the top of the forums and read up on their Fidanza Flywheels, would this help our cars at all? Would the turbo spool up faster due to this mod? I have no knowledge really of flywheels except from what i read on the rr racing site so i was wondering if flywheels do more or less for a turbocharged car. Thanks

Buy it, you will thank us later. You will get quicker throttle response just as the description for the product reads. A few statements have been made about lightened flywheels on turbo'd vehicles. Statements like the flywheel having a negative affect on the idle. Fortunatly, I've never been able to find proof of such a thing ever occuring. So my conclusion is that it would be an awesome add on. Subaru guys have been using lightened flywheels for quite some time now.

oh yeah absolutely, a lightend flywheel is a good upgrade. the less weight there is on that thing the easier it is to turn. this means more hp. less hp robbing weight and more to the wheels.

I used to have one on my first 1993 MR2. When my clutch blew, I figured I'd do it at the same time, since my friend got me a deal on it...

Wow, did that make a difference! I recommend them to everyone now. :)

My car did idle a bit lower than before, but it never stalled or had problems, FYI.

A heavy flywheel gives you a smooth idle.
Too light and your car may have idle problems.
Taking a few pounds off wont hurt anything, but I don't know if the aluminum flywheels are too light...
Just have yours machined.

I've also read that a lightened flywheel will decrease your coasting distance. The lighter flywheel has less momentum and will slow you a bit quicker. Maybe this is desirable to some :D.

A lighter flywheel is bad if all you are into is drag racing. A flywheel you will notice tremendusly, infact I'am in the works for getting a 9.5lb alum flywheel from Racing Beat for my rx7. You wont notice the difference in flywheels when you are at top of 4rth and in 5th gear, but from 1st through mid 4th you will feel it. It will feel like your car has woken up. Great for road course. Has great throttle response, revs up and down quick. Definetly get this if you are not going to drag race. Sorry for all the misspelled words =).

The Findanza RR has will in now way invoke idle issues but does rev faster. I had all stock junk in my even with the turbo. I just got the car back Wednesday after installing the Findanza flywheel and clutchmaster package sells and HOLEY s*** what a difference. the car revs like a bastard and the clutch definitly can now grab the power it could not before. Now if I am on the highway I can just down it to 4th and I am off like a bastard. Before the clutch would take a second or 2 to grip up right and it slipped a bit and the revs took to long to build. Now its great.

the only down side is when driving normal there is a little bit of shuter if i try to shift and the revs fall below 2000, but thats it. For the $500 I would do both upgrades.

any of your guys car shutter now? Mine does every once in a while, so I would if it would completley stall out if I put in the fly wheel, maybe it has something to do with the UDP...

What he said. I have had it for over a year. Along with the ACT clutch, one of the best mods I ever did.(thumb)

I shutter when I think its the old clutch and leave the revs at under 2 during a shift other then that its fine.
The idle is just fine no low idles or stalls at all.

I cant wait to get my car back with it installed. I got it from RR along with a clutchmaster clutch.
