ETB Ground Mod

[PWR SHFT]

I have seen this mentioned but in other posts but nothing definitive. Please explain the mod and the parts required. If it's worth it, I will do it. The TB bypass is going to be done (I have done this on late model f-bodies for years with no ill effect in the winter). I might as well do the grounding thing while I am at it.

Here is a post on another forum that gets into pretty good. 15 pages of posts. I read some of it and people disagree about it working or not. Some people think it give you more power off the line but you lose some at higher rpms. Let me know how it works out.

I did this mod and honestly didnt notice much of anything. Some people say it helps to smooth your idle and become more responsive. I did the mod at about 600 miles, so I didnt really have time to notice what it was like before

Thats what I am thiking. I read the other post and I believe that the servo is grounded to the throttle body to some degree. Which is why this works.

I think part of it has to do with the static electricity generated by the intake air moving through the plastic intake system, too.

Yeah. i read that too. In order for that to have an effect, wouldn't the servo still need to be grounded to the tb? I mean the electricity needs to have a conduit. Whether its from the servo to the TB or the TB (static electricity) to the servo, there has to be some sort of connection. EMI would be the only thing that could effect it without a direct connection IMO.

I already had all the parts in my garage. Just some 10 gauge wire, a couple 1/4" eyelets and some shrink tube.

I made mine too. It maybe cost me $3 in parts, but i still have most the wire left that i bought and some eyelets. I dont think anybody makes a "kit" for it since it is so simple

Almost the entire thing!
Unless you have an aluminum CAI and/or a Cosworth intake, everything before and after the throttle body is plastic.
