Engline light - believe its O2 sensor

I installed a 2.5 downpipe on my msp and i remember people mentioning something that i needed an o2 simulator. Im assuming it makes the car not throw a code? My question is why is it throwing a code when the o2 sensor is plugged into the downpipe and also where can i get this o2 sensor simulator?

you are getting a CEL because the o2 sensor is there, but is not getting the proper reading

i'm guessing you're not running a cat if you're throwing a cel. the ecu needs to see a voltage difference before and after the cat, but since you don't have one, it's throwing a cel cause there's no voltage drop.

cat was removed but there was only one o2 sensor, which is screwed into the downpipe

you mean you only had one o2 sensor stock, or only one place to plug in one of the two sensors? im sure you should have 2 sensors so ill assume the second...so where is your second one, just dangling?

I only have one o2 sensor stock. I have actually done a lot of searching and found out that everyone with the downpipe throws a code. Not worried too much about the light, just worried if its hurting performance?

your other o2 sensor is upstream of the one you're talking about. i'm not exactly sure where though. if you want to get rid of the cel, you can install a hi-flow cat and put the o2 sensor you're talking about AFTER the cat. otherwise, an o2 simulator will work too. i don't think you're hurting performance, but the cel can get annoying. some places won't pass you for inspection either if you throw a cel.

WRONG!
You have two O2 sensors and I am the guy who tested the O2 eliminator for Apex. The first O2 sensor is in the exhaust mani right before the turbo and the sedcond is in the Cat section or in your case the D/P.The O2 modifier is from Pony express and the one I tested was originally from the WRX.It does work fine with our cars as I have at least 2500mi on mine and have yet to throw a CEL.
Apex can get you one of these but I'm not sure of the cost.I'm sure it won't be more that $25 shipped to your door.
Call them and they will tell you. (480)967-6515
