So I went up to Dynolab in Marietta, GA for their Thursday dyno specials at $50 for three runs. I had to wait a while for some other cars that were in line first. One of the VW GTI's made 326whp and 301tq with an 50 trim turbo, no intake piping (just had gauze over the turbo inlet to keep big things out) and lots of tuning/fuel work on a stock bottom end. That thing sounded like it was about to die after he turned the boost to 27psi for that run. Anyways though, several other VW GTI and GLIs were there too. Most had a front mount, full intake, BOV, downpipe and catback. They were putting down 205-210whp and 240-255wtq. I was skeptical about the accuracy of the dyno until they put a bone stock new Honda Civic 4cyl 5spd manual on there and it put out 111whp when rated at 140 at the engine. Seems pretty accurate to me.

I attached my dyno sheet to this thread. I never dyno'd it stock but with the Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake (in short ram mode) and the HTP turbo inlet, it put down: 264whp and 292wtq. (hump)

Both runs were within 1 horsepower of each other in fourth gear for both. The hood was down with a fan in front of the car to simulate driving on the highway. I drove it through the first 3 gears easy, got it settled at about 2500rpm in 4th and then put it to the floor until around 6000rpm both times. No need to redline it because the power drops off as expected at around 5500-5750rpm.

I think with these cars the devil is in the details. The intakes run smoother and more consistently with the air straightener I believe. Plus, the air/fuel trims are likely right on the mark due to the consistency. I have not touched the exhaust aside from replacing two resonators and the BPV is still stock. I know the turbo is also not built to hold 15+ psi to redline so I'm not looking to do that either. 7year, 100,000mile warranty and 264/292 is fine by me.

Impressive numbers for the mods mentioned! Need to get my car dynoed there too. Do they run the specials every Thursday?

Thanks for all the compliments! Regarding DynoLab, every Thursday for $50 you can get your HP/TQ tested on up to 3 runs from 6pm-9pm. They take the average (i think) of the the runs and graph them vs rpm. They print out a pic of your car (that they take their) and with the graph on glossy paper. It's pretty cool! They do not do air/fuel testing though, just HP/TQ/RPM on the special days. It's cool to go by and see all the cars dynoing though.
