Dyno Day on New Mazda PCM Update

This morning I woke up and went for my 7:30am appointment at my dealer to get my PCM updated to the new one.

At 11am I went to the Dyno Day with the S2000 guys (Thanks guys if you see this...was a total blast).

Here is my Dyno: 4th gear starting at 3k with DSC/TCS NOT turned off (gun) in 90f weather. Was fricken hot!

Here is an older Dyno on a Mustang with just a CAI/Test Pipe;

Now to me (if I'm not totatlly crazy here) it appears that the powerband with the new Update is a lot better and holds more power till redline. Maybe I'm wrong, but it sure looks that way to me.

Also, here is a Datalog of my run on my DashHawk. The Knock is from the crappy 91Octane gas in CA so ignore it;

As you can see from the graph above, my PSI never dips below 1600PSI. Looks great all the way to cutoff.

Take what you will from this experience. To me it looks like the car is pulling a lot better towards redline. The conditions where not great for a Dyno. The Dyno was uncorrected, run started in 4th at 3k where 2k would have been better. My car was heatsoaked like crazy. My BAT was 127f when I backed off the dyno. Normally I run at about 85-95f and 115f in traffic. So 127f is bad :(

There is a longer writeup and some picks of the other cars on the OTHER forum.

Only 2 cars put down more power than I. There was an NSX that put down 254ish and there was a VW GTi that put down 475(cool)

The S2000's put down 192-197 for the AP1's and the only AP2 put down 211.

You cant compare the 2 since they are two different dynos.Why didnt you turn off the dsc?Thats a must..What are your mods on the newer dyno run?

The point wasn't to compare the two dyno's for accuracy, it was to give some type of perspective.

What you seem to be missing is the DH Fuel Log which shows the fuel steady all the way to redline without any drops. This is a big deal as before my PSI would drop to 900PSI at WOT in 4th. The new update seems to have fixed this. I will do some more runs today and see, but as of right now I'm happy with the update.

Mods now are: MBC 19PSI, Map Clamp, Mid Pipe, Forge, MS CAI.

Bravnik... I see what you see.. dipshit alert for the others.

The car made tons more power after 5800 were EVERY other ms3 collapses. Your dyno looks like power starts dropping there but collapsing after 6500. There are noticeable gains there after 6000.

It would still be pointless to let it rev that high as up shifting to the next gear before the power drop off would yield faster acceleration no doubt. So even though the dyno doesn't show the power drop off going to complete s*** it still drops. Now if it actually leveled out or continued to increase in power up until redline that would be great.

Basically what I'm saying is that based on the dyno's it still wouldn't make sense to let it rev past 6000rpms if you're going for fast acceleration.
