DSM AFC Users

14.67 steady. Check the map loaded on your AFC. It shouldn't have a value other than 10 for idle/vacuum conditions. Have you checked the wiring to make sure nothing is loose?

PS- Jeff I added a little update to the Koni thread. I'll be on AIM later tonight.

On a cold start it's lean, but when the engine is hot it's always moving around (I have a A/F gauge, not a wideband).

Supermap. None of the maps for stock injectors that I've seen have any correction in vacuum though, so you're running directly off the ECU, no MAF correction.

Go under the output settings and make sure that the over pressure setting is at -1 not -18. I noticed with my AFC 1 that when I disconnected the battery for awhile it would default to this setting and I would throw a lean idle code.

I run between 14.2 and 15.67.

Yeah, there was some issue with the AFC generating a sine wave at idle with the settings of -18. maybe DSM will chime in and list the proper settings, I can't find the original post.

Ok under the options drop down menu the settings should be selected as follows for each category:

System Settings:
Vacuum/Pressure
Programmable Signal Calibrator

Engine Settings:
4 Cylinders
4 Stroke

Output Settings: *********
Pressure 0 to 30psi
Dont worry about output A
Output B: Over RPM OR Pressure (technically can be just the over pressure selection, but the rpm gives a safety zone incase you develope a severe boost leak)
Over RPM: 6000
Over Pressure: -1
Dont worry about the rest

You must do these in this order, otherwise the values wont be correct, ie -1 at vac/pressure is complete different from -1 at absolute...

This is the info from DSMConvert, this will eliminate the sine wave at idle.

I don't know if it is supposed to be set at 0-30psi 5vdc or 0-30psi 3vdc.

okay mofo's, i got another question for ya'll.

Everything at idle was set to 10... I was still running full lean.

My questions is all values above 10+ = rich All values below 10- = lean? The instructions are not clear...

1st gear and 2nd gear = perfect 3500 - 4000 rpm

3rd and 4th gear between 3500 - 4000 rpm = craptastic. My car is going up towards the 14.1 ratio. Anyone else notice this with the superstock map?

I'm running the superstock map at the moment, and in boost (keeping it at 7psi while breaking in the new motor) I'm right at 14:1. Gonna check my settings tonight.

uh, you are suppost to be at 14.7 at idle and light loading. I suggest you buy a book on tuning.

What do you mean by full lean? 14.7:1?

I dont have a wideband gauge, but my A/F light (autometer) is always in the lean section (red) with the unit installed. The car is also bucking like its about to stall. Without the unit its swinging back and forth between lean and rich (normal behavior) and it should be the same with the unit because it doesnt change the signal on idle. I tried another unit and it worked great so it has to be my unit or any other options in the map that is wrongly set.

What is that over pressure setting that you guys talked earlier? And what value should it be set at?

Thanks

Dude, you NEED a wideband... The AFC actually increases your chances of blowing your motor if you don't know your exact AFR's...

Ya, invest in a wb. Narrowband voltage should be fluctuating rich lean while idling and cruising. Under boost it should be a constant rich. Did the unit come with the stock supermap loaded on it, or have you played with it? AfC shouldn't do anything with your idle as it is dormant until boost activates it. Have you verified that it is hooked up correctly?

Yes everything was hooked up correctly, and we tested with another unit and it was working fine, even at idle. Mine is lean at idle and should be fluctuating rich lean on a narrowband (just like stock setup), but with the unit plugged in it stays lean. Didnt notice during boost though because I was too much worried about running lean at idle and low RPM!

The loaded map was the supermap, but we re-uploaded it just in case and we got the same result: lean idle. Jeff@Tri-Point seemed to have the same problem so I dont know if he resolved it!?

Anybody knows about that over pressure setting?
