Driver's Window fell into my door

As the winter winds blow over Texas on xmas eve, I came out from shopping to find my driver's window down 1/2 way. I had not left my window rolled down so I found this odd. I checked the car for theft, nothing gone, started up the car, hit the power window button up, the window did not budge. Ok, maybe its frozen in place, so lets try down then up. So, I clicked down and it dropped into the door. (gah) At this point I stopped playing with the power button and had a cold drive home.

SO, off to dig thru the repair manual to see how to take the door panel off and see WTF is going on in there. Does anyone have any tips or gotchas to watch out for? Anything common about this problem? while the wind chill was probably in the high 20s, it was not too terribly cold.

you will need a window regulator. the cable is most likely snapped. i think its around 100dollars maybe more.

Thanks for the thread link bucksatan, turns out the yellow plastic part broke off on my car as well. I did not go as far as they did in removing all the parts.

Now to try to figure out how to secure the window closed until stores open back up.

What are the chances I can buy just those yellow clips??

plastic guides are junk

The yellow plastic cable guides used on the power window regulators are junk. The guide breaks and the cable becomes a snarl. This has happened twice on our 2001 Protege ES. I called Mazda with a complaint but they didn't list this as a recall problem. Spending hundreds to replace the entire regulator is crazy. They need to design and make available a replacement for those guides. Send them your complaints
