dont pay MSRP on MSP

I guess this applies to us lucky canadians:

I see all these posts about having to pay MSRP for new MSP's.
Why?
I ordered mine for ~$1000CDN LESS than MSRP.
Sorry folks, don't get suckered into the "hey, it's a limited edition car, you pay sticker!" story.
I'm not trying to brag, I just don't want you folks to get ripped!
:)

bigger dealers might be able to do this, but smaller ones are screwed.

The orange I was getting was 27995 before taxes and registration. That's MSRP plus shipping and s***.

But I'm getting the freedom driving for free :) At least that what they told me so far.

No offence man, but i think the demand may be higher in a city like Toronto rather than Peterborough. While i was negotiating my deal, after the test drive, (i'd already put down $1000 just to drive it), the sales manager had sold my car to a guy who saw me go out for the test drive.
No i'm not kidding.

My dealer is certainly not a large dealer.
They haven't had an MSP yet, they really aren't sure when mine will arrive...
I just went in prepared.
Dealer cost of the car : $25194
I got a deal on freight, and PDI. They didn't waive them, but I am paying less than they normally charge.
I also get a $600 "grad" rebate. If you graduated in the last 3 years you can get that too...

I was in the simialr situation with my car. They wanted full sticker but I wanted to try and get it lower. After some proding I found out that I was 3rd in line for the car with 2 more people behind me. Also the other NH dealers were trying for over $20K. So I jumped on it and didn't mind retail.

On the counter point, 9 months after I got my car there was still a new one floating around becuase the damand was gone by then and the dealer was trying to mark it up, I think it went for $17.5K.

If you have the time and are not in rush you should be able to get the car for less then MSRP but otherwise your probably going to pay more.

Then come buy it from Angevaare Mazda in Peterborough.
It's only an hour from TO, certainly the drive is worth it?

I don't know if it would apply to a lease.
You'd have to ask them...

As for more cars, I did put my deposit on the spicy orange, but I am thinking I want to wait for either a yellow or titanium one.

So this orange one might be up for grabs if I decide to wait...

hey, Logan, did you get $1000 off the msrp and you ALSO get the $600 rebate (ie, total 1600 off) or 400 off then the 600 off for a total of $1000 off?

how much was freight and pdi?

The grad rebate comes directly from Mazda Canada so that should have no part of your negotiations with the dealership.

Well, I got mine for MSRP because I put money down on it last October.

Know what the two Orange MSPs are marked up to now in the showroom?

$5000 (US) OVER MSRP!!!!

If you don't mind gray or yellow, I'd wait a few months for the price to come down.

I haven't got my numbers in front of me...

I got a couple hundred off freight, another couple hundred off PDI, and then cost plus 5% for the car.

Then I get the $600 grad rebate which I am applying against the final cost including taxes.

I think it is around $1000 off the car (including freight and PDI) then the grad rebate.

k, so $1000+tax in savings and then an ADDitional savings of $600 b/c it's independent of the dealer.. very nice. =)
