dont ever buy a focus

if anyone knows someone who wants a car to beat on or
someone with a focus let me know. need to sell anything on it for some money towards my mx6

it was a 01 (first year) with 120000 miles and a pos 8 valve engine and zuku that focus is the exeption to all focus hating

Ford focus is and always has been a solid car. Any car is subject to failure if it's not properly maintained. Did you buy it new or used? If you bought it used I'm willing to vet the previous owner neglected basic maintenance on the car. The problem with all econoboxes is that the owners don't feel very invested in the car and don't take care of them.

Just my opinion though

My wife's runs great. First year and a dubious ownership history may be to blame here. And how many proteges have just up and died from oil starvation? tons. I would still buy one.

you guys hit the nail on the head the guy she bought it from had 3-4 oil changes before 120000 miles

Very true. I was surprised to see how far away Mazda was from Ford at NAIAS.
