Do you guys care about racking up the miles on your MP3?

I have 45000 km on mine right now. I don't care about the km's i put on it but i don't get to put too much on the car since i take the subway to work and back. I mostly use it during the weekends.

As long as you keep it well maintained and in good condition, it can have 999,999 miles for all I care.

I hate puting miles on mine as well, yea I know its just a "protege," not some collector car like a Veyron *drewls* but I dont see myself buying a ferrari anytime soon, I feel like its better to use my backup vehicle when going somewhere like the grocery store, or just going around the corner........... -.- I just wish I had a garage for it.

This might sound stupid, but with the MP3 being a rare model are you guys/gals concerned about driving the car too much and racking up the miles?? Personally mine has 120,000km (75k miles) on it, I drive it a lot about 32,000km/yr, and I have been thinking about driving down to Daytona Beach for a week later this month with my girlfriend. It would be @3000miles roundtrip.
I'm on the fence about making the trip.

I just turned 41k on my MP3 and I love to drive it and have some fun. I also drive the wifes Honda Accord V6 when I feel like giving the MP3 a break. I have had it since new and I dont think 41K is alot of miles for a 5 year old car.

i hate putting miles on my mazda.... but i have 82,000 at the moment... Kind of hard to keep the miles down when its your only source of transportation, lol :)

For thoes who say, It's just a protege, well maybe the P5s or the LX, but a MP3 is pretty darn rare. It might be a protege but that's like saying a Mustang Boss is the same as the crappy 6 cyl mustangs they put out at the time.

The MSP is a cool car, but there are lots of them out there, even if they just made them for a year.

But whatever car you have, it shouldt be sitting in the garage or in your hard, that's actualy worst for your car. I drive the living day-lights out of my MP3 and love every minute of it. And as one of you said, "if you maintain it you can have 999 999miles" that is very true!

Ok, so I'm contemplating buying an MP3 with 75k on it. You think that's alright? It's going to be my daily driver. I won't have any other car to drive, so if I need groceries, the MP3 is taking me there. If I need stamps, well, you get the idea. I need this to last for at least 4 or 5 years. I was looking for an ES, but I have an opportunity to get a nice MP3. I was concerned with the mileage, but maybe I shouldn't be. Any advice?

MP3s are meant to be driven

I bought mine new and have run up 71,007 miles on the odo as it sitting out in the driveway this morning...along side my wife's 2003 Tribute with all of 26,700 miles on it. The truck is a lease. I bought the MP3.

If the car was well maintained and well driven, I dont shy off milage. Got the Grand Am with 190km on it and drove the s*** out of it for another 80Km. She still runs good with 278km. Well, the engine runs good haha!

Buying any used car can be a risk, the MP3 i bought had 70km on it and Its been great so far. You have to be willing to expect a few things going wrong with it, like anything. If you check it out, and the clutch is good, suspention is in good shape and the oil is clean and no noises coming out of it then it should be fine.

Others may have different opinions, but a MP3 is worth the risk if you ask me.

Sounds like good advice. Thanks.

Im with REVS tho even tho the Mp3 is a protege it is a rare protege I would hate to rack up a ton of miles on it.

I'm paranoid everytime i check the ODO cause I bought my car 8 months ago and with 62k miles and now it has 82k miles!! I drive a lot for the average kid I think and i'm boosting soon so imagine how terified I am. But at the same time i'm looking into a block already too. = ) MP3's are rare i've only seen one yellow MP3 and it will NEVER be just a protege....JCELL knows what I mean.

Wow this thread is still going, cool.

Well I've changed my tune, I don't really care too much about the mileage anymore, I realize that as long as I keep the car well maintained to the point that it can have over 200,000km and still be in near perfect condition then I'm happy.
Now if I planned to keep the car for a year or two more and wanted to sell it for as much $$ as possible then yes, mileage would be an issue, but for me I plan to keep the car as my daily driver for a long time.

I have 82000 on mine, but it is getting a new motor today so do I get to subtract the motor miles haha...
