hi just got done making my short throw shifter
cost $15 time a few hrs
look at the pic first
http://new.photos.yahoo.com/jacoviii@sbcglobal.net/album/576460762393340643

started with a old Taurus sho 5sp shifter
took some of the linkage off,and cut off the extra crap off the linkage plate
clamped it to the stock shifter to see were it fit best
when doing it hold the shifter in neutral
with the shifting cable off hold the new plate you just made and then bring the cable up about a 1" or so and move the new plate to the cable while keeping the shifter in Neutral stock location
then clamp the new plate to the shifter an go threw the gears and see how it feels

do not move the linkage up to high or it will not fit under the plastic that hold the shift boot , ash tray it will hit

you can find lots of the ball socket linkage at the junk yard on other cars not just the sho even AT cars have it

Hi!

Congrats...

If it work, great. Something like that is what I am looking for. A short shifter that do no decrease the size of the shifter rod.

Now if you make a kit and put them for sale, and instructions!!!

i can probably make a kit for about $25 give or take
it will look a little better too cause i know what I'm doing now

o ok will do if it comes to it
sorry for over stepping
scammers suck
i would rather it be a diy thing but if somebody need help i will after i check with the site modds

You misunderstood me, The how to/DIY walkthrough is totally fine(and very appreciated).

We welcome all our members to created walkthroughs, you can even call out part numbers and prices, that makes them even better.

You only need the AMM status if you will be selling a kit to other members. If you are just pointing them in the direction of the parts and not actually selling anything you are cool.

no i understand
i shot Antoine a pm about AMM
if more the one person wants one i will make some
thanks for letting me know the info
I'm not going to do a GI thread

This is great, but if it is going to be in the how to section please add this to it.

Thank You.

OK if anyone wants a tab made just let me know
had mine on about a week no problems

I am wiiling to buy if you are goin to sell a kit with the parts and instructions.

OK
Difficulty = take a little work have to go to the junkyard and find a tab that look like it will work with the right ball socket on it (a lot of the ones i seen to day will work)
Tools = OK tool i used to fab the tab were a air cutoff tool 6" angel grinder 3/8 drill )
Tools= to take the center console apart Phillips screw driver and a flat screw driver
Cost = $15--$25 for the whole 5sp shifter (which i did not need ,only need the little tab)
O Factor = do not know what the "O"factor is

my shift from N too 3rd is a little over 1" like 1.25" and from N to 4th is about the same

if you need more info on having a one made look at the link

how much shorter is the shifter?

TWN i think is only 33% shorter i want an extremly short one

I have the Stage 2 from TWM. The knob height is noticeably shorter, and the throws are as well. I don't think you can get much more reduction in throw length than 33%, even with a DIY.

the throw on the stock shifter is
from N to 3rd is 2-1/4"
from N to 4th is 1-1/2"
from 3rd to 4th is 3.75"

my short throw is
from N to 3rd is 1-1/2"
from N to 4th is 1"
from 3rd to 4th is 2-1/2"

i can make it shorter but you will have to remove some plastic with a sander or a dremle from the bottom side of the console
my total throw on mine is just under 2"

im gonna agree i have the stage 2 also.its got rlly short shifts im not sure on the specs but for the money its worth the hassle of a DIY..
