I have only had my Mazda5 Gt for 2 months and someone dinged my drivers side, sliding door.. I am sooo upset. It is about the size of a quarter. I always park far away and always near a dividing lsland so this won't happen..but it did. Any recommendations for fixing it. I have the white pearl paint. If the van was not soo new..I think I could live with it but I can't stand looking at it. It takes the excitement out of having a new vehicle..thanks(pissed)(pissed)(pissed)

Yeah. it blows... And you wont forget about it even if it gets removed. :(
Paintless dent removal. Dent Wizard?

i have the same thing happen to me.. but on the passenger side.. i was gonna get it fixed.. but it's been a few months.. i just gave up on the ding.. lol

Yeah, this happened to my last car, same time frame, same ding, same side. So I was extra careful this time. I wonder if I manifested it cause was afraid it would happen again and it did.. I called a body shop and now I am just waiting for a call back..I used to own saturn's back in the day and the one good thing about them is that the doors are dent resistent.. Why don't other makers look into this..Thanks.. still pretty pissed..

Yes it sure hurts!

Give a call to Dentpros, dent Dr, dent wizard, whichever PDR company you have in your area.

Another idea is to go to your nearby friendly high end dealer that also sells used, (BMW, Mercedes, etc.), and ask when their local dent guy comes, that way you can talk to the dent guy, and see his work in person.

I too have had good luck with the dent fixers. No paint to match up. I have had them do small and large ugly dents. I would say it's cheaper and done in a few hours or less. I had three dents done in two hours and it cost me $250.

I just got back from a local dent repair shop..quoted $75, I am feeling better.. I hope it turns out good..hopefully one day our cars will have ding or dent cams installed so you can catch the**^&*&..who did it and make them pay for it..Someday..

i have a dent on my hood from a piece of flying ice on the highway... i ask the dent guy to remove it.. he said he can TRY to get it done.. but it won't be 100%.. and he said if he try to get it done, the paint will definitely crack.. but right now.. the paint haven't crack yet.. so i just put a hood deflector on to cover it up.. lol

i had bad luck with this car.. first 3 month, 2 ding and a BIG chip on windshield

We got two dings at the same time!

We had our 5 for a year and some before some ass (es) put TWO dings in the rear driver's side sliding door. It happened while we we're parked at the Hershey hotel in Hershey PA. It really pissed me off becasue it happened within an hour. I know because we had parked our car in a space that we passed everytime we went to the pool. Being the person I am, I constantly check for dings when I see different cars in the spaces beside me. To make matters worse Hershey had diagonal spaces that people never seem to negotiate well.

On this particular day I had scanned the flanks of the 5 once when I went to the pool and then again on my way back to the room to get my wife some sunscreen. Within that hour a Chrysler Sebring and then a Toyota Avalon had been in the space beside me. But the dings didn't match the doors, so a third car had somehow came and left in that time frame.

Seeing that first ding is worse than being punched in the stomach. There's this wave of both sadness and intense anger. I think your mind can't grasp the reality that some people are complete assholes. My mind constructs scenerios of how the crime may have happened: a kids who's parent doesn't give a crap. An old woman, someone's grandma, who pushes her door open with her foot. Or someone who is so ignorant to believe that metal doesn't dent. Don't laught, I had one person say to me that metal shouldn't dent! I had another tell me that it was only a car. Another told me to "lighten up".

Which only infuriates me more!

And then people wonder why people snap. (flame2)

After 3 years the 5 has so many bumps and bruises that it makes little sense to fix those dings. I've found that the 5's hood has a tendancy to catch rocks and pebbles. The rear bumper also has numerous blemishes from various attacks including, we think, some overzelous landscapers weed wacker.

Funny though that all those nicks and scrtahces give the car some personality. It actually wears them well and the red paint does a good job concealing some. It also helps that we just made the last payment.

I am glad you feel the same way..I thought about that fact that this may happen again so why fix it..this could be a vicious cycle and expensive one. I am a bit of a neat freak..I am ill..haha..anyway when you have this illness you feel like the guy in american psycho and you have an obsession with keeping things new and immaculate. Cars will get wear and tear..I know but when the car is only 8 weeks new it hurts..Like a punch in the gut. Oh it is funny that you imagined how it happend.. I too had scenarios run through my head like a young kid, or old lady..I also imagine them hearing the car door hit my car and think " oh s***", I better get outta here..I am getting it fixed and I am never parking next to another car again..haha.even if it is a 110 degrees out here..

I park far away as well, but...

I generally park away from people when driving cars I care about.

...there are some situations where it isn't possible. In fact when we were at Hershey I parked in a space where the passenger's side was against a island. But the spaces at Hershey are a little narrower and therefore even parking within a couple inches of the island didn't give me enough clearance on teh driver's side if someone decided to swing open a large door to it's max travel.

What I've found is that people are more clueless and stupid rather than blantantly evil. I've observed people in parking lots and they honesly haven't a clue what there doing. Between talking on their cells or daydreaming they aren't paying attention. People are also dumb about car-stuff. My own sister-in-law (who is a AP Math teacher) once threw open her Volvo station wagon door and bumped it off my Nissan Pathfinder. I witnessed it. But at that point the Pathfinder had 90,000 miles on it and countless other scars so I didn't even call her on it. I also hear people at work complain about people like us. This one guys actually got upset when a car guy called him on kissing his door with his truck door. The non-car guy acknowledged the scuff that his door made but made light of it. When the non- car guy told me this story I wanted to kick him in the teeth.

The fact is that most people look at their car as a utility. Why else would the Toyota Camry be one of the best selling cars in the world!

You know what I find REALLY ironic

Many of the people who look at cars as utilities and don't give a s*** about the way they look are also the same ones who complain about pollution and saving the planet. Well maybe if they took care of their car they they would drive better and spend more time on the road and less time in the junk yard.

These same people also have no concept of car maintenance which if done right saves gas and decreases emissions.

Bunch of freeking hypocrites.

Makes me think about a time when someone opened a door into my first new car. I was already walking away when I heard the noise, and looked back to see the lady walking away. I walked backed to my car, saw the damage, and yelled "Hey Lady, get back over here, you hit my car!", she replied to me saying, "awww, do you want a couple bucks for some touch up paint?" I was furious, and I don't even remember what I said to her before she walked away. Nor do I remember if my burning cigarette butt I flicked ever made it all the way over her topless convertible.

MTBD - Mean Time Between Dings.

My way of improving MTBD is to drop the family in front of the Malls, Schools and drive all the way to the far corners of the parking lots.. where other shiny-newly waxed cars are parked.

Agreed!

I had my ding taken out..I don't know how they did it, but it looks like new. I am soo happy..I believe it is paintless dent removal..worth the $75..

Great to hear you are so happy. I have a '08 Mazda5 with a bumper dent that needs doing next.

Thanks..Funny thing, today I was dusting off the hood and noticed a small paint chipped spot. Now I will be off to the dealer for some touch up paint..I think life is just having a good time messing with my head. Haha..nothing stays fresh and new forever.Maybe that is the lesson I need.
