DGM carbon fiber front lip on 03.5 MSP?

AS for the DG lip on the 3.5? I still wanna see that! :D

OOPS. After a second look, I realize that it was a P5 that I saw that blue lip on. Here's the pic though, took 3 days to find. :D

I remember someone saying that the 3.5's lip was just added on to the 03 bumper cover. I don't know if this is true, as I have never seen another msp, 03 or 3.5. If this is the case though, couldn't you take off the factory lip and be able to use it? Just a thought.

Whoever owns that P5, nice job!(thumb)

The 3.5 MSP has a lip though. Now seeing that lip installed like that there is no way it would fit a 3.5 MSP.

Is the front lip on the 3.5 an entirely different bumper cover or is it just a added lip to the 03?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I want to know if anyone has pics of an 03.5 MSP with the lip off & if anyone has put a different lip on.

I am considering doing this...if anyone wants to trade lips, let me know.

Here's my car with the DGM C/F Front Air Dam:

You must remove the stock 03.5 front air dam in order to use the DG one.

Thanks for the pic, that looks awesome! Does taking off the 03.5 lip mean that the side grille inserts won't fit anymore?

Looks exactly like what im trying to do. I already sold my lip and installed the P5 fogs...how was the fitment of the lip? I heard you have to modify the bumper a little to get it to fit....? Also how did the paint match up on the fiberglass? I have a fiberglass rear bumper and the guy who painted it does awesome work but it looks lighter than the rest of my car, even though he used the mazda paint. Do you think a few coats of black primer would help out? Only reason i say this is because most urethane bumpers are black before they are painted and i would imagine painting over black primer would give a darker end result....

The side grille inserts are part of the stock front air dam and cannot be used with the DG piece.

The DG piece fits very tight around the bumper. I didn't have to modify the bumper at all. The paint matches the car perfectly (this is entirely dependent on the shop doing the prep work and painting).

Any chance you could find out what they did to match the paint? I know the guy used the stock MSP sunlight silver metallic paint. Fiberglass usually comes with white primer on it, i think DG's come with black...that might be why it matches perfectly. To the naked eye my bumper is not noticeably different. However if you sit there and stare at it, eventually you will notice it is a few shades lighter....

any rear shots? the back of the car looks too high when compared to how low the DGM lip makes the front so I had been looking at the BC bumper

and do you have any zoomed in shots of it? looks from those pics like it could just be the way the light is hitting it?

nm....i actually LOOKED at the thread and saw it :) hehe

my body shop said he followed the mazda code and it was way off, so he called somewhere and asked if there were any variations. they gave him a few. all of them were way off so he woudn up just blending it on his own he said

someone else said that their paint shop got a 3 stage paint kit from mazda from somewhere and that matched perfect after applied.

i dunno.......

yea i think the BC2 bumper with the DG lip will look real sweet. Im gonna go to my paint guy and have him paint it how he normally would and see if it comes out matching. If it does ill know the reason why is simply due to painting over black primer...

so you cant just remove the 03.5 lip and replace it with the DG cf lip? and the stock air vents where the fogs go? you cant reuse those? they just pop out.... someone let me know

You can remove the the 3.5 lip and it will look just like a P5 (minus the fogs of course). Then drop on a DG and your good to go. Thats what im doing ;)
The air vents are part of the lip, so they have to go also....

the vents that your talking about are teh black honey comb things on each side that replaces the foglight holes? hmMm i mounted my lisense plate with a bracket there.. so that lip comes up all teh way in teh back on each side? thats really strange if its true... so your going to put fogs in the holes or what?

Well i sold my lip for a pair of P5 fogs and $120. I already have the fogs installed, im just waiting to get my lip painted.
