Denied warranty claim due to aftermarket radio

I can vouch that rainx on rain-sensing windshields, just makes the wipers go extra fast. But it doesn't mess it up.

I have been having a screwy rain sensing wiper problem since I used Stoner's on the windshield. Its only when light hits it a certain way just causing them to go off randomly once or twice. Used to happen the same exact spot on the ride home from work.

Mazda dealers seem to like to void warranties for no reason. I had an FD a while back, and had some engine work done. The work was screwed up, and the engine failed because of it. They refused to warranty it because I had aftermarket seats in the car (the original leather seats were torn up by the previous owner). They said that the engine must have blown when I was "racing", and their only evidence was the seats (that's what they told me). I never raced the FD...it was never working long enough to even try to LOL

Still though, pissed me off.

I've given up with it. They literally have a mind of their own, and i'm tired of screwing with it.

If I could install a intermittent/adjustable wiper stalk from a Sport MS3, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Rain-sensing wipers suck! Talk about over-sensitive and it's totally off-pace with speed. As you speed up, they speed up, as you slow down, they slow down. Ever been in traffic during rain? The drizzle gets pretty hectic even though you're only doing 45. But, once you get up to 70, they freak out and go max speed.

**** rain-sensing wipers (fu)

so my airbag light went on and went to get it fixed and the guys says it isn't covered under the warranty because i have an aftermarket radio installed. He says this is because everything is plugged into the CAN+ CAN-.

So be aware kiddies that you need to take out your head unit too before warranty work.(confused)

CAN+/- wires simply relay information to the upper LED screen. The OEM iPod adapter taps into those wires to send artist/song/album information.

My guess is that you either tapped into an incorrect wire other than the CAN +/- which in turn triggered the SRS, or your dealer did in fact misdiagnose the problem. In either case, your next step is to call Mazda Corporate and have your car taken to a different dealer.

Ask them about that aftermarket OBD-II diagnostics tool that they connect to the CAN bus to read CEL codes. If they read your codes, does that void your warranty... hmmmm???
