hey all..

i was backing out of a small parking lot, when i heard this "thud" noise from the rear. i stopped and looked and i went against on this midget pole i didnt see. the side of the bumper kinda popped out and i have med/hard scratches on the rear bumper. i popped the bumper back in..no prob but anyone know how to removal deep scratches?..the pole was yellow so its fawkin ugly! any suggestions would be great. thanks (2thumbs)

pictures would help entirely in this situation.

do a good carwash followed with a claybar on the area (to try and remove any leftbehind dirt/debris/paint) and follow it up with a buffing compound to even/remove the scratches. Depending on the severity this might not remove the scratches. If this is the case finish the rest up by applying touchup paint. applying LIGHT multiple coats (instead of one thick coat).

you can follow up with a fine compound to even out the touchup paint but make sure you allow a week or two for the touchup paint to officially cure.

easiest way out: GET IT REPAINTED and save yourself the hassle :p

It all depend's on the scratches. Try autopia.com and check out the forums, they have alot of inform on scratche remover, if this doesn't help out then get it repainted. Good luck

low grit compound on a soft cloth it will help take off any yellow and show u if the sratches a deep to the piont of the base-coat paint.....hint..if u can take ur fingernail across the scratch and it cathces a lil it needs painted.....its not that bad to have the bumber painted $250-$350 depending on the shop

Meguiars has a polish called "Body Scrub" it takes off the heavy paint smudges, then use some clay and instant detailer to remove any other residual paint. The scratches will require touch up paint, but make sure you remove the other paint first.
