If you'll drop down to the "cargo carrier" subject just below this thread, you'll see that's the same harness used on my '10. No problems with it. The reason it was used was because of information on this site, I didn't think the OEM harness was available. The OEM would have obviously been easier, but the Curt has proven just fine. Didn't see the need for a switch on it, since no power flows through it when disconnected. I cut my harness long (sometimes we pull a cargo trailer, and sometimes we use the cargo carrier) and ran it into the vehicle in back. When the harness isn't needed, It just gets dropped into the plastic storage pan below the back deck, and the entire harness is out of the weather about 99 percent of the time. A trick learned during this project, is that one must use a direct line to the battery because of the LED's used in the rear lighting on the vehicle. There simply isn't enough extra power designed into the system to power trailer lighting. (unless you use the Mazda OEM).
