They should NOT have used the words recall and campaign together in the same context as they are 2 completely different things. This is NOT a recall. This IS a special service campaign that only came about because Mazda was sued. A recall would only be for safety related items mandated by NHTSA where the manufacturer MUST repair an affected vehicle at no cost no matter what regardless of warranty status. Again, this is NOT a recall.

Hope that clarifies things to anyone confused.

Got the letter, happy that I don't need to dump the car now :) Kudos to all the affected folks who actively helped this to happen.

I got it the Kettering yesterday and show it to service manager and still won't fix it because it already was worked at 2021

I am not 100% sure but I am thinking that it may be more of an issue of the warranty of the repair component. If the original repair was done by mazda under the initial warranty then I would see how long that warranty is. That warranty depends on the laws of your state and also on various Mazda policies. I think in Canada the repair is also covered for the duration of the original vehicle warranty (for example if your alternator fails twice in the first 3 year warranty both would be replaced under warranty), which is the angle i would try with them for this second repair (i.e. both engine failed within the 10 years span).

I don’t know that this would work but it is what i would try. Find Mazda policy on repairs warranty and use it to leverage your argument.

Just coming here to let everyone know and give some hope...We had to have our engine replaced in Sep of '22 due to this defect. After fighting with our local dealership we had to pay $2100 out of pocket for the repair back then. Received the CSP letter from Mazda in late December, applied for re-imbursement on Jan 1st, and was notified yesterday that Mazda has approved our claim and would be receiving payment in 10-14 days! Good on Mazda for FINALLY making this right.

I feel the same way even though mine has not had this issue as of yet.
What model year is yours and mileage at time of failure?

'18 GT...61,200 miles at TOF. 1,200 miles outside the warranty and Mazda refused to fully cover it back then!
Wow... Just 1,200 miles. Sure makes one think twice before buying again, especially with them knowing full well it is their design flaw/failure.
Thanks for sharing the details.
