2017~2025: CX-5 Mud Flap Recommendations?

So.... I read through the three entries that dealt with mud flaps and still have no idea what to buy.... We just bought a 2024 five.. and would like to add the mud flaps and rear deck protection strip... but want to know if there is an aftermarket company that is a little cheaper than Mazda OEM.... When I look, I find a ton of them on Amazon and Ebay but also I read in the reviews that the holes didn't line up etc... grief... Has anybody bought an aftermarket set of mud guards for their five that fit well? How about the rear deck guard? Any advice/suggestions/links would be very much appreciated...

You can wait with a rear deck guard (do you mean bumper protection?) till it's damaged.
I had the OEM mud flaps on my new CX-5 installed before the delivery of the car.
Although looking small, they keep the dirt away!

Professor2,
You can buy OE accessories here:
Mazdaswag.com
Mazdaparts.org
The latter has free S&H if you buy more than $100.
Both are Mazda dealers. I have bought from both before.

Be cautious about buying stuff from Amazon. A lot of those items are knockoffs or poorly made. Quality is unknown. Your luck varies.

I liked how easy the OEM mudflaps were to install. No measuring, no drilling, no guessing,...
I don't know about the rear deck guard? Is that the bumper step pad?

After dumping out the money for the new 2014 Touring I figured it was a good time to dump a few hundred more for Mazda accessories at the dealership. Got the rubber floor mats to replace the thin carpet ones, rubber cargo mat (well worth the price and still pretty good shape at present-- no brainer for me), the way overpriced rear bumper guard (that still looks good and prevented some gouges/scratches through the years -- I had a previous car with unsightly scratched plastic bumper that I saw every time I opened the trunk). And the factory mud flaps that installed easy and do work well for their size. The rocker panels stay cleaner when there is slush and salt. Bit of corrosion prevention there. I guess it could have been purchased cheaper elsewhere but it got done. Don't miss the expenditure at all and the quality has been decent.

Good morning!!! There are a lot of bumper guards out there that will work and are not super high priced..... and yes, I will install them before any paint damage is done... the car we traded in suffered from not having this protection so we will spend the money... I got a set of the rubber floor mats with the Mazda logo on them from my son, who also owns a "five" and didn't really like them but I am also 99% sure I will try to buy some WeatherTech... pricey, but they are the best and we have them in all our other vehicles... I just got an email from the sales person who sold us the Mazda. We test drove it that day and it was all good until she tried to use the second FOB to show us a few tricks and it didn't work.... wrong one? but the physical key was right.... so they would get another and we have to return to have it programmed etc... not a big deal, but I did ask if they stocked the touch up paint deal and also if they stocked mud guards and asked her to check with her GM to see if Mazda would sell them to me for cost..... you never know... I also noted at the dealership that the starting FOB unit had a big piece of plastic attached..... and I am sure that is so you don't lose the thing.... Does anybody have a "keychain" or something attached so it is not set down somewhere and lost? I think my son has a flash drive keychain attached to his.... Wonder if the dealership has something with their name/logo on something like this? Anyway... we are still waiting for the insurance company to get back to us.... online website application and when I hit submit, it gave me the message an agent will contact you within 48 hours.... which will be the end of the day today... Lots to deal with....

After looking at Weather Tech I just decided to go with the rubber mats that my son gave to me... they are really nice and "will do" .... it is just my wife and I and we just won't be driving this much.... I also looked at some window rain deflectors but the deal killer from weather tech was the shipping charge of $30... I know I know... but... I can live without all this now... I also am trying to get the dealer to sell me a set of mud flaps for cost.... they have been very good about the other stuff... trade ins etc... and one of the key fobs did not work so we have to bring the vehicle back... and am kind of hoping that for our trouble they will toss in a perk or two... not holding my breath though... Will check out the Maxpuder and Tuxmat though too....

Thanks N7.... it took some time to track down a dealer for these. but I ordered a full set which is front mats very similar to weather tech, then the second row one piece and also the "trunk" ... $86 but also a 15% off coupon so I have the entire order including tax and free shipping for $81.... Thanks for the assist... it is very much appreciated
All Weather 4PCS 3D Floor Mats & Cargo Liner Full Set for 2017-2024 Mazda CX-5

Two premium options for you to consider:
3D Kagu "Maxpider"
Tuxmat

Both are better than WT.
Also consider the Canadian Mazda OEM floor liners. Also made by Maxpider except slight styling difference with Mazda logo. These also fully cover the dead pedal which WeatherTech does not. I really like mine.

I wanted those but I couldn't figure out how to get them in the U.S.

Checked out our new 2024 Mazda CX-5 this morning to confirm there was no sill plate on the back bumper where you would set something when loading it in the back and also checked to see if there were sill plates on all four door sills... Again... none... Has anybody found a seller on Amazon or Ebay that sells a decent set that includes sill plates for all four door sills and that rear hatch bumper cover that works well and is a decent price?

Just to suggest an alternative to sill plates/bumper plates, you could try paint protection "tape". It's just a roll of clear protective vinyl with adhesive backing. 3M sells this product, and in comes in 2", 4", 6" and 12" widths. This is cost effective, nearly invisible, and easy to replace with the assistance of a hair dryer or heat gun.

I would recommend these stores as well for better pricing on the mud guards.

This is an interesting idea. I just ceramic coated those areas and they're super slick now. I wonder if it will have trouble sticking.

I think the film will stick, but it will be a whole lot easier to lift off, especially at the edges, compared to an uncoated surface.

If you have a vinyl wrapping shop or service local to you, I bet they'd be willing to give you some of their small cutoffs/scraps to test how well they would stick to a coated paint surface.

I think some people have found that certain aftermarket step bumper pads might be too thick and interfere with the hatch.

I found a generic rubber pad for less than $10 on Amaz but I don't have the power hatch. It's nice rubber but a little big. I also found some thick black vinyl for the door sills that is peel and stick. It seems pretty robust and I think it will stay put, and I think the adhesive is 'permanent'.

I also applied some 4" 3M clear vinyl to the leading edge of the hood and it has stayed on for over six years now but I am sure it would be easy to remove.

I think it's a little odd Mazda doesnt install these at the factory like other brands do but I guess it's a way you can customize your CX5 to your own taste. If you search on Amaz you will see there are many options, at least for door sill protectors. For an exact fit on the bumper pad you might at least consider Mazda OEM.

I have these on my 2020. Bought them from Canada, arrived in TX with USPS.
