2017~2025: CX-5 Friendly campers?

Hello,

I'm wondering if there is a list of recommendations for campers/ teardrops that the cx5 wouldn't have an issue taking around. If anyone has experience with which camper they use with the cx5 I would love to hear it. I like the bushwacker 10hd but don't know how It would handle on a trip with my 2020 cx5 touring trim.

I have towed my R-pod 180 all over the southeast and eastern Kentucky mountains without issue. I limit my towing speed to 65 mph, use a ScanGauge II to monitor trans and coolant temps and use an inertia brake controller. My hitch is not rated for load equalization and the subframe likely isn't either. But I use a friction anti-sway device. The towing weight is 3219 pounds with about 14% on the tongue. After a while, I added airbags to the rear springs, but never thought they were mandatory. Some of the R-pods weigh less than 2500 pounds.

My car has about 125k miles and the trans and diff lubes get changed every 30k miles.

Wow this gives me a lot more confidence I was definitely thinking of a small tear drop and probably will still lean that way but glad that there is a basis for pulling something larger. Thank you so much your post gave me a lot of info!

They are rated to tow 1800 kg (3960 lbs) up to 100kph in many other countries. those places appear to have strict limits on towing speed, in particular.

I use my R-Pod for disaster work and required a bathroom.

Look at R-Pods with numbers 180 or below. There are other brands that are close, but R-Pod was designed to be the lightest.
