CX-5 2021 - Add-A-Circuit / Add-A-Fuse

Hi,

I have been trying to hardwire a dash cam into a cx-5 GT 2021. However, the driver side fuse panel has Low Profile Mini Fuses that sit in a recessed fuse box. I have tried 5 different add-a-circuits and all of them don't fit snug / tight. They are loose so much that a simple bump will make it fly out. I tried both mini fuse taps and mini low profile fuse taps. None of them sit well or tight. Extremely loose.

Any of you found one that works?

Here is the ones I tried thus far and all don't work at all:

-

I also tried Bussmann Low Profile ATP LP taps. Garbage.

Thank you

I have a 2019 GT with the homelink. Amazon has an adapter that allows you to plug a dash cam in without any trouble to the back of the mirror. Can't remember the name but you can look on amazon.

No the one I'm talking about is by Dongar Technologies. Just unplug the rearview mirror and plug the adapter then plug mirror in and plug camera into remaining plug. Simple as that.

Yeah I get the mirror the issue is you don’t have parking mode that way. Hence, I need to hardwire.

If your mirror has Homelink, you can run the DT as @shooter357 mentioned. The Homelink mirror is always "on", so parking mode will work (confirmed on my Homelink mirror with Invisicord (similar product to the DT)).

Wish I had a solution for you regarding the fuse taps. Unfortunately I have no experience with those.

I have used this one in my CX-5 and my wife’s CX-9:

Her’s has been in for almost 2 years and hasn’t budged. Mine has been installed for over a year with no issue. I used them in order to have the lift gate functionality using drone mobile.

Edit: My apologies, as I just noticed you said you had tried the one I linked to. Not sure why our experiences are polar opposite. I made sure to really push them in. I have had zero issues. In fact, I am extremely pleased with them.

Yeah not sure why busman didn’t work. I pushed to the point the whole fuse box was moving. It wouldn’t stay in.

Yeah I have similar ones but they wiggle. I had to electrical tape them to thicken them and cut the corners off to ensure a snug fit.
Can you post a picture of how you modified the add a fuse to fit snugly? I'm having the same problem.

I imagine they wrapped the electrical tape around the black fuse holder and trimmed the excess off the sides so it fit snuggly into the fuse panel.
