You have hit on an important point here, IMO.

Curse words are merely mumbo jumbo that is backed by extreme emotion, be it good or bad. I find it more offensive to shame/prohibit people for expressing their feelings than to hear someone cursing.

I say leave it alone, who cares about some silly swearing. You ask me, the entire world needs to relax a little with swearing. We all do it, get over it. I think Mazdaspeedgirl said it best.

The only legitamate reason I could see for filtering swearing would be to help clean the site up in fear that companies, and even Mazda (who does read the site )might think less of the forum when it's full of swearing. How's that for a long messed up sentence.

I tend to think allowing people to "speak" their minds on the forum as they would in person lends an air of reality to all of this bulls***. I mean, if you have a problem with your vehicle, you come here for help/feedback/sympathy you want to be able to express yourself the way you would if you were at your buddy's garage, or wherever. It might not be everyone's way of getting their point across, but for some it comes natural. Fuckers.
