Mazda 3s
i have contacted the office of cosworth and found out that the manifold that is made for the focus will work for our 3s.ya this is old news but i am in the market to buy one now and i just want to make sure that it works good, the person at cosworth said that it will fit perfect the only thing is that you need to thread a new hole for a bolt on the throttle body because it is a diffrent set up thain the focus, but all the bolt holes on the engine will mount up and there is no problem except for a CEL which i can deal with but i just want to talk to some one that has it on now.does anyone have one put on yet and if so any pics and how is it runing.

i don't believe anyone has one yet... and i saw corksport took it off their cat for the 3... makes me wonder if there isn't a fitment issue or if its just b/c of the cel...??

i think many of the people don't find rethreading holes on a $650 part very reassuring. Especially when it driveabilty hasn't been confirmed/commented on on the car. One of the retailers in down the street, i was going to see if i could through it on to see, but the i saw Ken at FocusChallenge and he told me about the TB issues. If any SoCal guys wanna dive in, i'd be glad to help with the install, but i'm out for being the test bunny.

i think we should just wait a bit longer to hear from cosworth now that they have some mzr motors to play with instead of just the focus version....

this is from Ken last week.

"At this time, we are sourcing cam blanks for the VVT intake cam. The major problem in the future will be the tuning as we do not have access to Mazda tuning software. "

I think waiting is the best thing at this point, especially since there's no way to tune it. If there was potential to tune for it, just not sure how it went on, i think we'd have more guinea pigs.

i am really surprised mazda isn't working with them...(not helping just giving them access to what they need) its not like cosworth bolt ons can be confused with warrentied work, and mazdaspeed isn't doing anything like this as far as i know... eh such is big business... all we can do is wait it seems...

Just talked to cosworth today to get some info, FYI do not but the intake manifold!!!!!!!!!!!!! no body has put one on yet and even the guy i talked to at cosworth has no idea what would happen if one is put on the 3. i asked him why corksport was selling one thain and he told me that they were taking a chance. Ya that makes me feal real good. (NOT)

honestly, if you put it on "right", all that might happen is the ecu would have a shitfit and shut off. does the same thing if you just take off the filter on your intake, get's too much air and turns off. The only problem is you just lost $650 or so and your wallets gonna be mad at you, but your engine won't blow up or anything. I talk to Ken a couple times a month and should know when something is worked out.

There are a couple Focus guys that ran the manifold for a day or two before sending in the ecu for the flash....ran a bit odd, but ran....and sounded "AWESOME".

Ya if they get things resolved and they test it on a 3 and every thing turnes out ok thain maby i will think about buying one. but untill thain im not going to take the chance. think im going to use the $ and get a clutch kit from draxas.
