I see a few mazda branded oil filters on amazon, but which is the correct one? Also, is there is another brand name filter that is as good as the Mazda branded for less $?

Ditto for air filter. Thanks!

Here are part numbers of OEM oil filters:

Mazda CX-5 2.5L NA:
PE01-14-302B (Japanese made Tokyo Roki oil filter installed from factory but not available in the US) / 1WPE-14-302 (Thai made Denso oil filter) / PE01-14-302A-MV (“Value” Product made in Mexico)

Mazda CX-9 / CX-5 2.5T:
PY8W-14-302 (Japanese made Tokyo Roki oil filter installed from factory but not available in the US) / 1WPY-14-302 (Thai made Denso oil filter) / PY8W-14-302-MV (“Value” Product made in Mexico)

Aftermarket parts usually are one-size-fit-all to save their cost. They don’t really care if the products really meet all specifications of original OEM parts, as long as they fit.

Oil filter won't fit

IMO, you can get Japanese made Tokyo Roki PE01-14-302B oil filter and OEM air filter PE07-13-3A0A for your 2.5L NA at partsouq.com from UAE. The price is competitive even with shipping. And you can receive the parts within a week. Here’s Glee217’s recent experience getting Japanese Tokyo Roki oil filters and other maintenance parts for his CX-5 2.5T from partsouq.com:
