CorkSport has the Power Series catback system available now for our mazda 3's and i was wondering if anybody had it or had any comments on it before i buy. they have a video clip on their website and it sounds pretty damn nice to me. its $390 and $40 to ship where i'm at, so total $430. How does this sound to everybody else??

not a bad price... a lot of people are staying away b/c its offroad use only... there have been some quality issues with some corksport stuff, but none for the 3 that i have heard of...

as far as i knew their catback system is not street legal. maybe im mistaken though, the price is def nice.

well it eliminates the 2nd cat, but says it does not cause a check engine light to come on. for the smog test here in NV, they use the OGB II plug in and check for your engine light, so i dont know if that will trigger it.

we have installed 2 localy and they have not reported any problems with CEL. One in Oregon one in Washington.

A flex-back or cat-back exhaust will not cause any CEL's. You are not replacing any parts in front of the first o2.
Even if you replace the second cat you will still be fine.

haha! i think we all would, nobody has anyt beef with them just that is not street legal, but nobody would care if it was 'sponsored'

my friend as it on his 3, sound excellent, If you want sound clips of it or vids give me a pm, I highly reccommend, I have the power series on my protege too, quality with it is amazing.

I have had the power series on my 3 for about 4 months no problem in both install or in performance. For me it is a little loud but not at the bottom and mid range of the rpm scale but it isn't bad highway cruising. There is however a slight pop between shifts 1-3 gear and sometime during decelaration. Overall for the money you can't realy beat the product. I for one, am going to put a muffler with (the system dosen't come with a muffler just pre-silencers) a different tip for the simple reason I dont like the one that comes on it.
The main thing however, it is a quality piece just be sure you dont mind a very deep exhaust sound and I mean deep.

u can't go wrong with corksport, they specialize with mazda parts, so its gotta be tested good for our cars, plus its a good price

I'm just trying to get them to give me a good deal..

1. I'm local
2. I'd love to keep the $$ in the community
3. I'd promote their product
4. I'd purchase more products from them. i.e. GT Spec strut bar, SS brake lines, Progress rear sway bar...

i would consider corksport if someone that knows comes and tells me it is street legal. as far as i know it isnt. Im in Vermont and we have same regulations as California (basically, anyways). anyone knows?

If VT the same as Cali, and the EXH does remove/replace the 2nd cat, it's illegal. Whether it passes smog or not or throws a CEL or not. A cat can only be replaced if it's 5 years old and/or defective.

You can probably get away with it come smog time, as most places (at least here in CA) pretty much overlook the visual inspection. But technically it can fail that too.

on my protege I passed inspection in NJ with my corksport exhaust which elimates the 2nd cat. It's the best exhaust out there. Corksport specializes with Mazda parts so you know its good.

I don't know if I'd go quite that far. I know more than one person who has had problems with pipes breaking and resonators falling apart.

They're good but I wouldn't say they're the best.

I've got one on my Protege, and I'd recommend it on two premises-

1- They have the flex pipe on the resonator section like the modified ones for the Proteges.
2- They sell it pre-bent for anyone who has a body kit or rear bumper skirt. I don't know how many are readily available for the 3, but that has been a big issue with the Protege system.

Aside from that, I did notice a decent increase in power, and I love the way it sounds. I love letting my friends or my dad take it down the street and listen to the exhaust.

Even if they pipes did or do break, they replace them for free anyhow. the corksport has the most aggressive sound, excellent quality, best power gains, and best price for their exhaust system.

AMEN to that!!!

Yeah , what he said. My first resonator split, and after talking to the guy who posts as CorkSport on the forum, I got the improved design one and have had it on now for almost 6 months without problem. I love the sound too, although a little loud for cruising, but I plan on adding Dynamat to my trunk to help rid some of that.
