googling "mazda5 subwoofer box" stumbled across this..

for people that don't want to give up cargo space seems like a no-brainer.
I'm gonna make mine a little deeper to give it the proper volume for my Infinity sub (0.35 cubic feet) The people who install this sub properly claim its definitely very deceptive, sounds like a 10". We'll see what it does with 300W rms or so....

very cool mod! I buit the exact same thing right after I bought my Mazda5 in 2006 (using his post as inspiration). The hardest part is finding a good quality 8 inch sub! The only thing I did different was use epoxy as I am alergic to polyester resin.

He still has that little box, seen it in his garage when I picked up the 10 sub, box and amp I bought off of him, lasty month. He sold his 5 earlier this year.
